I personally know some of the artists. They're my friends. I've been to the burn. They didn't get monetarily paid. Their payment was being there among others and having a good time. Please don't spew nonsense

73,000 attendees and I'd bet my left nut against a $1.25 every one of them have at least three social media accounts.

Funny part is Ive made it 100% a point to get a Offroad for crawl mode. I heard on the news. "People are stranded" Obviously the Offroad automatic Tacoma people are at home by now. :)

Im 52. Love the idea of Burning man personally. They have something that is a copy of it in Ohio like in a month from now. I usually leave the burning man webcam up on my TV in my office at work when the cam is live. Seems too big and expensive now.. Paris Hilton showing up to it. and hearing on the news how Chris Rock hiked out and hitchhiked.

Need a new burning man.. do it on the East coast.

I couldn't help but notice how many people, especially those that looked like they would have recovery gear, drove right past that guy with the mini camper who was stuck crossing the mud stream. I thought the idea was help your fellow man.

Sometimes helping your fellow man means getting the hell out of the way. Losing momentum and getting stuck worsening the traffic jam ain't helping.

It's a little bit like stopping in a stampede. Some things just aren't wise.

Watching the video, nobody was having a problem moving anywhere but through those 2 mud streams. Once they got through it was clear sailing. Looked to me like any one of them could've stopped and pulled them out, they weren't even buried, just didn't carry enough momentum. And there was more than enough room for others to get around, as one after another did just that.

    Did you watch the video?

I did, I was also out there yesterday doing recoveries with the Sherrifs office and CalNeva. The video doesn't do it justice. It's a shitshow and a lot of the issues have been caused by people being where they shouldn't and stopping where they shouldn't. The last thing recovery teams out there need is some folks overestimating their abilities and making bad situations worse.

There's probably still a few thousand vehicles stuck and a few hundred abandoned. Utah got it's first snow on Labor Day so we aren't too far away from a nice lil' cold snap out here and I bet you some of these will be out past the winter when our resources stretch thin with winter recoveries.

As a hunter/fisherman I'll point out the issues I see.

Dove spots - the majority are littered with empty hulls and beer cans. I could go out and fill a garbage bag easily and still not make a dent at some spots.
Public waterfowl refuges - almost no one picks up their hulls, we find toilet paper and peoples shit on the dikes, trash from their blind snacks, etc.
Gun ranges on public land - the worst in terms of garbage left everywhere.

As far as fishermen, way too much mono left all over the place, beer cans and styrofoam worm containers.

I'm a leave it cleaner than you found it type person but hunters and fishermen are some of the worst offenders I've found.

Hell, this was what I picked up doing a truck trail. I didn't even start picking up trash until 1/2 way through the trail:

First thing about rescue missions. Dont add to the number needing to be rescued. Funny how a lot of those people crossing let off the gas after they got out of the water and you saw quite a few of them bogging down. None got stuck (They got lucky.) Cars following the same track as RVs too.. Bold move.

Ive watched these events for a while. After this event they spend a ton of time cleaning up every single part of this area. This is going to take a lot of time this year.

    Festival Idea!

maybe we meet somewhere on the east coast with Tacomas and Call it TacoMan. Then burn a effigy of a Jeep at the end.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
LOL, nothing like using a truck that cost $100k for the one thing its not designed to do. TOW! I would not trust a Dodge bouncing off the rev limiter very long but it did the job.

This thread needs a poll so everyone can see how many TW members feel violated that an event like Burning Man even exists.....
