I've had my 2018 6MT for about six months now, got it CPO with 9k on it. I've noticed almost invariably after driving, usually short cross-town trips, there's a burning smell coming from under the vehicle somewhere. I don't think it's clutch, supposedly burnt clutch is very distinctive. It's more like a burning plastic/rubber smell. I've gotten under there to look if there's any insulation or something hanging down on the exhaust, but it appears to be clear. Mentioned it at the last service appointment and my service advisor said it's normal, just factory coatings burning off. The truck has 12k miles on it and I'm quite suspicious he's full of crap... I know there's a few threads out there with similar things but much much lower mileage. Anybody have this smell at mileage as high as mine?

Could it be "A little bit of shake and bake"?

I never experienced any burning smell at all with my truck. ( well one time backing out of a steep loading dock! The clutch got a little hot. ) Just over 32,000kms on it. Did you have any undercoating applied to your truck? Maybe you picked up some road debris somewhere. A noticeable burning smell is not normal.

You could have a brake pad dragging or something as well. Feel your wheels after a long drive to see if any are hotter then usual. Did you happen to grease the ujoints lately? Any grease flinging out on the exhaust you might not have noticed?

Mine had some smell for 1k or so when new, none after that. Check the brakes like the above poster said.
