Burning smell w/ oem rotor and pads

    if the truck pulls to one side when braking then maybe its a caliper sticking

    Is there anything between the brake pad and the piston from the caliper? I don't have anything between them. I have the oem setup

    Yes and no.

    If the piston is sticking, sometimes you can push it back and free it up for a short term fix. Rebuilding a caliper is preferred to retain the oem unit. As for overheating, you would have to get a rotor extremely hot "red hot" to form cementite and ruin the rotors and pads. A little smell is nothing to worry about, most new brakes need to be bedded and can produce a smell when driving the first few times.

    I took out the pads use the whole can of brake cleaner on each side and lubed those parts but we talked about. Right now the squeak is gone but the squeak was not there when I originally did it to begin with so I will check back in after a week or so

    Rebuilding calipers is becoming a thing of the past. A lot of reman calipers use the Toyota housing and have a lifetime warranty. No brainer. Now a reman master you should stay away from.
