Damn man. Shitty situation but dont blame yourself. You probably saved his life by sacrificing the truck. Hopefully it can all be repaired quickly but I would speak with insurance about it especially if you bent some stuff.

John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

God will repay for your good deeds. But it's up to you if you want to be with Him and receive Him in the name of Jesus Christ.

Why do I get repaid for my good deeds when my deeds were only necessary because he allowed my friends hand to be brutally chainsawed off right in front of my face? I dont accept his repayment but I'll accept my buddy's fucking hand to grow back

That is up to Him, but Do you have faith? Are you willing to trust God? that He will make the miracle happen? It seems harsh but Maybe this is what it will take for you to believe. Think about that. He works in mysterious ways but His secrets are kept FOR His children, not from His children. I will say a prayer for both you guys. Be of good comfort as best you can.

What better of a way to prove his existence, divine love and power than causing the hand to regrow? I don’t think anyone is going to hold their breath waiting for that to happen.

No I have no faith and "he works in mysterious ways" is just said because of a believers inability to explain the worlds atrocities or childhood leukemia. My right to be repaid for a good deed shouldn't trump the reason for the deed . I have enough struggles and theres no reason other than to torment me for this to have happened. Your God can go screw.

When you two are having a beer or soda down the road your friend is going to thank you for saving his life and he’s going to tell you he was an idiot and it was all his fault....
You are a hurting man right now and it shows you have a big heart.
No one knows why things happen.
The only thing I know is you will straighten this out within you. And you will have your friend.

    Damn, this went south.

Like others have said, the more times you play out this situation in your head, the more you’re going to hurt. I can’t imagine the scene you saw, nor do I want to.

Don’t turn away help... some turn to faith. Don’t shit on those trying to shed some positive light on you. Godspeed and time heals all.

Dood...good deeds, good karma, gods will. It's what gets people thru their struggles. All of that is non tangible.

What IS tangible, as far as >I< can see...you snapped to in a situation that required decisions and a frame of mind to solve an issue you likely had never experienced before. You inherited a situation and you have been measured on your response, to wit, in my humble opinion, you exceeded when looking at all possible outcomes.

Couple decades ago, I almost severed a co-workers finger due to HIS negligence. He never shed a drop of blood, or sustained a scratch. I think about that moment somewhat often nearly 30 yrs later. I guess I'm saying, this is going to be a part of the fabric of your life moving forward, no question about that.

Your "reward" (and I use that term loosely) is the fact that you have a buddy, who you can still talk to in a day, a week, a year from now because of your action/reaction to circumstance rather than visiting a gravesite, talking to a slab of granite and pouring a shot of bourbon on the earth in remembrance.

Fix the damn truck, and go wheeling with your buddy again...it IS that simple, regardless of the pain.

    Peace brother

There are literally an infinite number of things you could have done ahead of time that would have prevented it ever happening. That is the reality, and you cant change that. That doesnt make it your fault unless you had any reasonable way to foresee (or even dream of) any of this happening, and I can't image how that could be.

That said, there was probably only one thing that you could have done after it happened to keep everyone alive. Sitting there freaking out probably would have resulted in a death I would think. Sounds like you did the one thing you needed to do with utter focus, all other thoughts be damned. I know it is no consolation that you did the right thing when you needed.

I can say, i have one handed swung a chain saw when working on a ladder and up in a tree when I couldn't reach with two hands. Especially when a younger kid and weaker arm strength to reach out and operate a saw. It's dangerous, I have done it not because somebody made me, but because i didnt want to slow down, move a ladder, relocate, etc.

I really do admire what you have done But unbelief is what can prevent miracles from happening. Jesus will always respond to genuine needs asked for in faith. I'll leave you alone with this.

The blind man in John 9 was born blind, not because of anything he did to deserve it but because God would use his condition to glorify Himself and reveal His love and mercy so that all who could see would believe.
