No, homeowners will only cover it if it was completely enclosed in an insured building.

For example, your truck was parked in your living room, (some how), the living room was COMPLETELY closed in and the house burnt down, if the truck did not have comp coverage the truck would be covered under homeowners insurance.

Now, same scenario, but OP, in a hurry, left the house and left the outside door open...

    Not covered.

I'm a licensed adjuster, handled a similar claim involving a Harley bike.

The bike was in a shop in back of the house. The shop door was left open. Claim denied. Door closed, would have been covered.

    It's sad, but that's the facts :(

(insurance did of course pay for the shop and contents, just not the bike)

Put it on display, like top gear did for the Toyota pickup they tried to kill but still ran and drove.

You do not need to know the cause of the fire to have HOI cover it.

Sounds like you need to start reading your policies AND find another company.

You need to dig into that. I think your getting taken for a ride.

My mother tried to file an insurance claim for her house after the foundation was fixed to repair all the flooring they had to dig up. She’s had insurance on the house for 25 years and never filed a claim. They told her that she is shit out of luck, so she hired a public adjuster, he read the policy and viewed the damage and said she is covered. Currently a lawsuit is underway to fight the insurance company. This may be the route for you to go OP

You've got to be kidding, that's just an easy lawsuit win waiting to happen. If I was a lawyer I will be looking for stuff like that for easy money.
