It's stated in the policies. When it gets down to it, basically anything that can have its own policy, a boat, a bike, a car/truck, etc should be insured. The "loophole" ( if you want to call it that ) in simple terms, is that it also states that anything totally enclosed in the covered structure can then be claimed as personal property. In other words, your homeowners insurance, doesn't cover your car, your boat, etc, but if an adjuster knows the policy down to the letter, he can get your car, boat, bike, ATV, etc classified as personal property even if it does not have its own policy, but its totally enclosed.

In other words, it's like a little known "loop hole" that sometimes can be used to help out the insured when they didn't have proper insurance. If that makes sense?

I tried my best to get the guys bike paid for, but they had pictures and fire marshal report and he even admitted the door was open. I submitted the claim to my manager, when he saw all of that, nothing we could do :(

Most people look at adjusters as the enemy, yes there are some bad ones, but I promise they are the minority. :)

    Also, this is just FYI!

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER even speak the words attorney or lawyer to an adjuster!!!!!!!

Adjusters have lee-way to make judgment calls. If you say those words, your claim is out of his hands! It gets handed over to the insurance companies lawyers!

    You will get screwed!

By all means, if you think the insurance company is not doing right by you, hire an attorney! Keep going along with your claim like nothing is going on. Forward everything to your attorney, keep your mouth shut!

When the insurance company needs to know that you have an attorney, your attorney will decide when to let them know!
Trust me, several people that I could have helped got screwed, because they jumped the gun and right in the beginning said those words!!!!!!
