burnt toast my tranny

Hey guys, I need help. Kinda f-ed my tranny and need thoughts and help. Are our tranny controlled by the ecu? Because I want to use the a340 from 1st gen tacos and mount that behind my engine? Or use the a750 behind my engine?

Would it be just swap tranny, wire and hook up and go, if ecu swap isn't needed? I'd love the a750 5 speed with my 2.7.

 

Yes ,both transmissions are controlled by different ecu,s.Not positive on this , but I dont beleive there is a bell housing from the A750 that will fit behind your 2.7
Whats wrong with your A340E transmission ?
In order for you to use an older 340 transmission ,you would have to purchase the throttle control cables and the ECU from the older 340 transmission .
This could be an expensive undertaking

 

^ Yep that transmission in it basic form has been around for decades but they also have become more and more electronically controlled ever year.

 

Yeah I was worried about that too, but I talked it with my auto teacher. He said it would run, but it could possibly mess with my smog. So it sounds like a go. From reading schematics and going thru all data, they both are similar at the bell and the case itself.

My tranny is slipping. Yeah that's what I was kinda afraid of, because my taco is drive by wire.

 

You might try E-mailing the folks at Marlin Crawler...Marlin is pretty up on what tranny works where and with what....worth an E-mail, or log on to their site as they have lots of info there also.

 

If this is a daily driver ,why not try finding a replacement transmission from the same year . Gonna save you a lot of fuel and down time by the time you get an older unit functioning .

Check the 2nd gen market place often
