Yeah I get that! I used to have sliders but I ditched them after figuring out that I never used them. I don’t do any rock crawling either, just medium to occasionally hard trails. The only armor I’ve debated adding is a rear bumper, but that’s only because I want a swing out for a full size spare so that I can do a 5 tire rotation. I don’t like how flimsy the hitch mounted tire carriers seem but I don’t want all that additional weight from a bumper either. So it’s just 4 tires and a beat up full size spare under the bed for now.

I like the protection even if I don’t ever need sliders— there was a car that was texting or distracted and hit the side of my truck on the freeway. The slider kept the truck safe without a scratch, the car looked beat up haha. Also, I added an extension/step to mine so my tiny wife could get in the truck easily.

Yea I do want a rear bumper with tire carrier too; probably going to be the last thing I add haha.

Oh nice, that is true that they offer protection from more than just rocks!

Yeah I would be quicker to pull the trigger on a bumper with a swing out but I’m definitely going to need a new leaf pack if I do that because right now I’m just rocking an add-a-leaf. I don’t want the Carolina squat lol

Also for car doors in parking lots— with house high up the truck is, most typical vehicles will hit it first if they open up their door without any car in the world  I always try to park away but there’s always someone that seems to want to park next to me haha.

Ah yea, with a bumper 200+ lbs I’d probably sit flush with the add a leaf but squat with any other gear in the back. I have my eyes on the icon RXT’s :spending:

Truuuee, my sliders did protect me from a few door dings when I had them.

Yep I think I would go with the RXT’s also. I have the Icon AAL right now and it’s been great. But with the shell, anything more than gear in the bed and I start to have some squatting since I’m lifted in the front.

There is always aluminum for sliders, a third of the weight of steel.

Next time they have a sale I plan on getting a set, mostly because I want a better side step for getting things off my roof.

We pretty much have the same set up with a similar upgrade plan haha.

That’s why I had mine done by @Shmellmopwho so I had the best medium between ground clearance and toe clearance— and I also had him do the step attachment that I rock on my passenger side for the wife. :)

You California guys are lucky, all the best mods are in your backyard as well as being close to all the offroad fun.

    Thanks!

Hahah, definitely blessed to have fellow Taco owners who can weld and fabricate things. I’m moving out of Cali in the next handful of years so that might be something I’ll miss.

Impulse buy.. got shackle holders to hold my gold shackles until I put them on a bumper to actually use them— potentially. Chose gold to compliment the amber/yellow lights. :D

Wanted to throw the RTT on the bed rack— only took me half an hour throwing it up and fastening it using my manual hoist. Good timing! Threw the cases on the roof for kicks too.

Wife got me a suuuuper early birthday gift— originally had my eyes on the infinity tails and morimotos but this fit the budget! May not be the brightest but definitely love the design and how it completes the theme I’ve been going for on the truck! Too blessed to have a wife that supports my hobbies :D

Thanks! I think so too :D reverse lights are "meh" but I have some flush mount pods that I might try to throw onto the bumper and hook up to the tails.

Ah who needs reverse lights lol. That sounds like a smart idea with the pods though!

LOL  Kind of true, I can still see fine backing up with the camera anyway so I'm not in a rush to do it. I'm finding less invasive options like small light bars that attach to the license plate mounts which also might be a reasonable way for a little more light.

Oh that’s a cool product, I didn’t know they made something like that. I certainly don’t need to be looking at anything on their website because I just dropped a bunch of cash on new tires

Just went through your thread! Maxxis MT's look good! But yea I feel you, I knew of Morimoto when I got into retrofitting for my other cars-- quality is awesome but it does come with the price haha.

    Thanks for taking a look!

This is my first time building out a car so I wasn’t sure what I would get with the Morimotos in terms of quality but yeah I am definitely not disappointed. I have the Meso total tails and I really love the way that relocated the turn signal so I’m gonna keep those forever probably.
