I am interested in Bushwacker fender flares and have some questions...

    1. Can anyone tell me if they increase clearance at all as compared to factory fenders specifically in rub prone areas such as where mud flaps mount to factory fender and front of tire also?

    2. How easy are these to install?

    3. Any recommended vendors for good price?

    4. What color do they come in standard and can you buy them color matched to truck?

    5. What material are bolt heads visible on outside and do they rust or are they aluminum or plastic and just for looks?

I have an OME lift with 885s, toytech 3/4 in top plate spacer and dakars in rear. My front mud flaps had to be removed when I did lift and 285s put on because there was some rub when taking sharper corners. I will be installing an aluminum pelfreybilt bumper at 65lbs plus light bar and fogs and want to eliminate any chance or rubbing plus I like the look of the Bushwacker fenders also. Any info if much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    AC

They aren't meant for clearance. They're meant to cover tires that stick out beyond the factory flares.

I thought that they gave you a bit more clearance since you have to cut about 2" of material when installing them yeah? The bushwackers I had on my Jeep definitely gave me much more room and they required you to chop off about the same amount.

Bushwackers just replace the factory fender flares using the same mounting points. No cutting.

    1. No they don't increase clearance unless you modify them.
    2. Pretty easy with basic tools, if your truck is mostly stock you may have to drill holes for mounting.
3.none, they don't seem to be on sale very much and when they are it isn't much, most I've seen off was 25$ for all 4 flares.
    4. They come in a black plastic finish, you can pay to have them color matched at a painting shop. When I bought mine they did not sell them color matched, though that option might be available now.
    5. The visible bolts that come with it are stainless and just for looks. In stock form the flares clip/screw onto the fender in various holes and clip nuts.

I believe myself and a lot of the people that buy these do so because they are slightly wider than the stock flares, it helps keep dirt off the side of the truck a little and helps wide stance tires slightly less illegal. I don't see a lot of people using these in a stock setup. Most of those I have seen modify them to make them true bolt on, and when doing this increases clearances.
