    Gee Duane, nice wood!
No really. I just moved to a house with wood heat. I to have been busy cutting wood. However I had a oak fall in the empty lot next door. I now have four cords of oak.

Thank you. If possible, I like to leave the bark behind. The last three trees the bark came off pretty easily, one pop to the side of the round and that was most of the effort needed to finish pulling the bark off. Also, the last three trees were close together, kept backing up to one spot. Not as nice as one tree I found last year. I don't burn much Oak, saving it for nights in December, January. Couple cords on hand, what I filled the shed with left me with another four year supply.

    Bump!
Whadda y'all doing? Let's see some action in this beautiful part of California. Out camping close to home with the Repo dog, nothing special.
Woodshed is over 90% full, waiting on some wood to dry so I can finish, it was on the bottom of stacked rounds I had on pallets. Picked up five more pallets from the local Chevron bulk plant where my friend worked before retiring last year.
I need to take a dirt bike ride to see how far I can get on FS roads close to home.

I still haven't taken my dirt bike above where I live, just last Sunday's ride with a neighbor by Snake Lake and to the NW. Headed to Humbug Valley west of Lake Almanor Saturday with some from the Native Plant Society.

@hikerduane how's the snow up there? I haven't been able to get up there to check it out. I've been working winter work both in our shop and at the power plant in Anderson. Really liked to do a road trip up there but timing isn't my best attribute.

Still a tiny bit of snow left on my acre, can only get to the culvert by the Forestry Camp. Neighbor wants to take our dirtbikes to ride up by Mt Hough next weekend, should be melted at least low down being its southern exposure. They are still riding sleds at Bucks.

Thanks Duane! That's a speedy response. I haven't rode a bike in almost twenty years I wish I would have made the ride over Hough. I broke a derailer half way up the Quincy side and had to coast to the pavement for a ride back to Meadow Valley.

Took my dirt bike out for a spin, got up the FS roads a couple miles, going clockwise by Drybreads ranch, almost as far as I had hiked to the day before, but coming down to complete a loop was only possible on foot as quite a few spots with snow still. One such spot, a few days before, a truck got stuck, could see foot prints on the snow headed down hill. :) Help or another vehicle had a high pucker factor as more tracks in that area showed a set of tracks sliding over the bank. Dont know what happened, could not make out the story, surprised it didn't roll over. Meadow where the ponds are by the ranch was full of water over the grass, too much to walk out on, managed to fall in Little Schneider Creek, losing my balance on a small log when crossing back over, got my shoes wet and I was out with the pup for a o/n backpack trip, so wet shoes and socks the next morning still, temps only at freezing.

Good too hear things are thawing out. Thanks for the up date Duane.
It's a hot son of a gun in Redding where we are staying. To busy working to get out and do anything exciting. I can't wait to go logging so I can get some rest.
I've been unloading logs from Paradise at the power plant in Anderson. Going to be an all year thing but not me. I'll be in Chester soon.

What sort of dirt bike you got, Duane?

About my favorite thing to do is explore the FS roads on mine... I have a WR250.

I follow this thread even though I'm on the coast.

That's what I have also, '15. Dreamed of camping on the coast and maybe riding some, but that would require a small dual sport, not my KLR650 which I want to sell since I have a dog now.

Definitely interested in this part of the state. I live a few hours away in good old Napa Valley. I spend a little time each year around Sierra City/ Downieville because I mtn bike a lot, but I've always wanted to venture further North. I met a guy on the coast a while back who owns a ton of land up in Modoc and he was going wild talking about beautiful streams up there loaded with fish, vast expanses of FS land and mostly people running cattle.

I concur, used to head to Cedarville twice a year for work. Definitely a beautiful part of the state and worth the drive!
