How does adaptive cruise cause this issue anymore than standard cruise? I love the adaptive cruise. It's great when you're on the highway for endless hours.

Think the same people hating on it are the ones that complained when we went from carbs to fuel injection. Makes them feel superior that they don't "need" any help to drive. To me its a great feature and if you don't like it don't use it.

Thanks for your input. I agree with you and It doesn't have the tech/premium.

    Sorry, but No.

All ACC does is maintain the distance from the vehicle in front; it doesn’t have the ability to see ahead the vehicle in front, or make any type of judgement calls. As the vehicle in front slows down, ACC slows down, that’s the nature of the beast. Worse, in standard setting ACC leaves so much distance behind the vehicle ahead that it entices other drivers to squeeze right in front.

When you combine an uninterested/distracted driver on adaptive cruise control and put him/her in the passing lane, which two-thirds of American drivers love to do, the end result is a line of vehicles traveling below the speed limit without anyone else allowed to pass. And they can happily travel like that for dozens of miles, completely oblivious to the jam they create behind.

So the fault still lies with the first person in said string of cars in which adaptive cruise is not in use, as there is no one in front of them :)

I do agree with people driving in the passing lane though. Extremely aggravating. I just don't believe ACC is at fault either.

TSS-P isn’t that bad. I’ve only ever noticed it when someone makes a sudden right turn without using their indicators, which triggers the BRAKE warning but it didn’t engage the brakes.

I’ve been off road and have hit some trails, tight ones too and have had no issues with it. I’ve went through water that easily got the sensor wet and no issues.

ACC makes an existing problem worse by enabling “uninterested” drivers to relinquish one more layer of driving attention.

If your used to diesels u may consider 14 or 15 model year 4.0 powerband probably much more familiar to you as you’ll have to ring that 3.5l out from what I’ve read.

If you are dead-set against the TSS/enhanced electronics, go 2017. The cost of the windshield spec alone is enough to differentiate them. You should instead be debating the longbed/shortbed decisions. Yep, I realize that new versus old is an issue as well, but if you're already seeing past that... you are already ahead of the depreciation game. Welcome aboard!

Thank you everyone for you opinions. I was able to purchase a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road Manual transmission in Quicksand color.
