They could have overbuilt, yes. Could have, and should have left the msrp the same. And all the people who bought one would still have one, because people who bought the pro INTENTIONALLY bought one because the concept is cool as fuck. I just want the product to back up what the concept suggests. Somebody dropped the ball, and as absurd as it is, the parts bin is a big deal when the bean counters chime in. I suspect that has something to do with the exhaustive streamlining of production that they are obsessed with... you can’t have the pro built off to the side with extra attention, you need ONE line churning out ONE product. As a Toyota fanboy, it is disappointing. Had I had a say, the pro would look exactly the same. And it wouldn’t be advertised for liability purposes...but you would certainly be able to depend on the frame and suspension when sending it into the air.

You know. If you’re gonna do something, do it right. If you’re not prepared to make the pro special, with its own separate production steps, it’s like, don’t even do it.

LOL and you believed them? Plenty of off-road capable vehicles have been using disc brakes for a long time with no significant problems. I am sure one of their suppliers would be able to assist.

My statement was not a belief, it was a Toyota statement. As I said, "Toyota explained"

But who cares? The drum brakes do their job and last a really long time.

    Thread has hit drums brakes.

You have t-minus 30 seconds to reach minimum safe distance.

Additionally, plenty of people off-road Tacoma's with no significant problems. There are pros and cons to drum breaks. This holds true with disc breaks as well.

when you have a truck that weighs nothing and has the power of a civic you really don't need discs on all four corners

I bought the OR because the 6" bed was more important to me than leather seats. I did have the dealer throw in a TRD Pro skid plate into the deal and will upgrade the suspension later anyway. New to Toyota I did a lot of research and must have been back to the Toyota build page 5 times. Only been a week but am happy so far.

Can you not get the premium package on a 2019 longbed? This would have added leather and a sunroof.

Yes but I am not a leather seat person and it gets hot in the summer in TX. Put covers over the leather seats in my Corvette and Wife's VW GTI. So was really looking for cloth seats. Long bed was really the key factor for me.

Gotcha, the way it was worded I thought you were saying you thought it was one or the other as far as options.

Maybe not enough research? You know you could have got the TRD OR 6" bed with leather.

I had the same questions, in the end I bought a Trd off-road with the color and options I wanted at a significantly lower price than Trd pro.
