Take a look at how many recalls the American brand have had compared to Japanese before jumping out of your pants. Talk about over reacting to media hype.

In light of how emphatic the government is on assuring the American people that Toyota will be safe before they can drive their vehicles, consider who owns the largest makers in the US now. The government, what better way to eliminate the competition and set yourself up for more sales and revenue. Someday that memo from the white house will come out.

Because current market conditions are much more different than yesterday.

Toyota and Honda were the undisputed quality leaders up to the late 90s.. Now, that is no longer the case, more so for Toyota.

Over the past decade American auto makers have increase the quality and designs of their vehicles as has the Koreans.

To put your comparison in a contemporary context is the only sensible thing to do. Unless your goal was to have a pissing fest and a tally of total recalls in company history, which would make for good content in a wikipedia entry but serves little purpose for people deciding their next new car purchase.

Well gee I wonder if that had anything to do with the acceleration issue. I do agree that US brands are getting better but they still have a long way to go.

Wow people are getting feisty. Buy what you want...
If I have more problems with this 09 Taco it will be the second Toyota I have ever owned with problems.

    Corolla (sold 150k+ miles)
    Alltrak Camry (sold 100k +
    90 Truck (traded 170k+miles)
94 Truck (traded 170k+ miles) (2 deer) (head gasket)
    00 Tundra (sold 120k+ miles) (1 deer)
Sienna (TOTALED but everybody walked away)
04 Sienna (still have, 40k miles)
09 Taco (still have 3k+ miles) (radio problem and "floor mat")

You don't want me to get into the reason we started buying Toyotas...
But it might have had something to due with an engine laying in the road after a motor mount broke while at a stop light.

Honestly, I think all of this is very funny. On one hand it is not cool that we have maybe bought a vehicle that could have buggy software like some say. On the other hand who doesnt have weathertec digital floor mats....

    just kidding...

This is another lame attempt for uneducated people that have problems with products to lobby the creator or designer for some type of restitution. If you do not understand the basics of something maybe you shouldnt be using it.

I have had several vehicles in my childhood that had this problem including 89 accord and 4x4 ranger.

Floormat creep is something that happens with soft rubber or flimsy carpet but if you are a fat ass that slides in the seat with your feet pushing the mat into the pedals then maybe you should put down the chimichanga and take a look at what you are doing.

just read my avatar some people move on when they cant figure it out.

They were actally very cool about helping me. Parts are on its way and now I will know what it looks like on the inside. Beleive me, that was my next step. For right now I will take the "free-part-my-labor" solution. :) I'll be ready.
