If he drops price by 4K yea, because you could go and ask body shop to clear that rust and coat it for 3K, and do something else with 1K.

Why buy one with rust when you can find the same thing without?

Too many other options available with less or no rust.. I'd pay a little more for a vehicle with no rust to have peace of mind.

Big thanks to everybody who shared their thoughts. Helped me get into a better situation - I did not purchase the truck with extensive rust and as of yesterday am now proud owner of a cherry '22 TRD OR I'll be confident in for years. Gracias!

might be able to blast rhe surface rust off and apply fluid film to it . If it goes deeper than I would say no .

I have a 22 that has lived in the rust belt two winters. No rust at all. I use fluid film like my life depends on it. Makes all the difference, in my opinion.

Smart move! There are too many out there to but something suspect,,, especially in your market/environment.
As mentioned, I would still get it sprayed,,, maybe less often given your location.

For some reference, here is my 2022 (which lives outside in the rust belt). Use fluid film, gentlemen. There is a thick layer of accumulated dirt from the product, but it looks brand new underneath.
