    First post here!
Currently looking at this 2009 Double Cab Longbed Tacoma. Its got 131k miles and is going for $12900. Everything looks super clean except for rust on the frame and one spot of body rust I'm not worried about. I contacted Toyota and its still under warranty for a frame replacement if there's at least 1 10mm hole on the frame. I'm willing to put in some work to take off surface rust and protect the frame from further rust, but I am debating if I'd even want to go through the frame replacement process.

I'm looking for some extra opinions. You guys are the experts here and have seen many more Tacomas than I have. Buy and deal with the potential hassle...or walk away? These are the best photos I got from the dealer. Is it even bad? It's quite the deal so like I said I'm willing to put in some work for it, but if its too far gone...its too far gone. Any opinion is greatly appreciated. I will be checking it out on Saturday. 61471484756__64421322-5B0D-42C6-A50E-D328BD2F7EFF.jpg 61471485729__E807CFB9-564E-4922-A2AB-AD37ED17ED92.jpg 61471486771__508D4B99-FEE4-40FF-999E-B5E757DE1CEB.jpg 61471483721--CF9181B6-08EC-4390-B1A4-D0143A0CED10.jpg

I would not be worried about a frame replacement.

I would be worried that they can NOT find a 10mm hole before the Frame Replacement Warranty coverage ends.

That is a lot of rust. My dad has always told me to walk away from any car with rust on it, If its showing you don't know how deep it goes or how widespread it is without a full tear down. we have always treated our cars and trucks at the end of summer with either an oil spray or a rubberized spray (started using since 2016) to protect the undercarriage from getting damaged.

I've got to ask, what on earth happened to ruin that frame so badly?

Is that's what it's like in states that salt the roads a ton?

It's not the worst I've seen, but the frame rust never stops, and I've seen guys that take immaculate care develop holes.

If the undercarriage wasn't maintained, a good chance other less obvious parts were not maintained. Have a look around this site and there are a lot of pics of what a well maintained truck looks like.

Like Neil Young said, “rust never sleeps”....OP I would move on from considering this truck but be patient, you’ll find something. Oh and welcome to the forum

As someone who just bought a new Tacoma those pictures are horrifying. What area is that truck from?
