Buy the one I want or settle for less expensive???

Im looking at an 04 tacoma, great shape, new tires, 125k miles, 4x4 etc. Its exactly what I want but 3k more than I have.

Do I get a loan for the 3k and get the perfect truck or settle with a less expensive truck??

When you're spending that kind of money, it's worth it to get what you really want. Otherwise you've spend thousands of dollars on whats second best.

I have 11k and Iv talked him down to 14, Its the truck exact truck I want so I guess 3k will be worth it in the long run.

Depends. Got a job? Debts? How quick can you pay down a $3K debt if you take it on? How good is your credit? Its kinda hard to get financing on a 7 year old car/truck, but it can be done. You may have to get a personal loan, and then the interest rate is higher for sure.


I say if it's going to take you longer than about a year to pay down the $3K ($250/month+interest ) you should probably keep looking. After all, you're going to need to spend on maintenance and other expenses on the truck as well.

 

No debts, Great credit.... no job. Im going to college atm but I have all my school fees payd for now and for the future.

 

Life's too short to settle, buy it, you can always sell it if times get tough.

 

Buy what you can AFFORD. If you have to get a loan to pay the difference, then you can't afford it. Either get a truck for $11k or save up $3k more.

Trust me, if you have no debts now, that is a great place to be. A $3k loan doesn't seem like much, but that just opens the flood gates for more borrowing in the future. Many people wish they could be in your position, which is debt free....I'd recommend staying in that place
