The price the dealers list for used are waaaay inflated.

When I bought my truck I had already gotten quotes from dealers for a new one, I basically told them, "Look, here's what I can buy a new one for, unless you can save me 5k off this price I'll just wait and get a new one"

They came back with 4k off the new price and we settled for 4.5k off new price.

It was a 09 dclb sport 4x4 bought when 1 year old for 24.5k (It did have 22k miles on it so that did give me a little more leverage when negotiating) This truck was listed on their website for 30k.

Like everybody has said, it depends on what you can spend. I bought used because I found a great deal on a low mileage 09. It had been a lease vehicle and only had 13,000 miles on it, got it for $23,000. The same truck new would have cost well over $30,000 and that was out of my price range.
