Definitely. We get $9 per 25 miles. About 33 cents a mile. And then $45 a day while we're at work. I try to claim the difference in mileage and the difference in per Diam depending on which city we're working in.

So, I just gotta ask. Have you considered moving? Many potential time and financial benefits, least of which is wear and tear on your truck.

Move where? I can be sent anywhere from council bluff's to salt lake City and as far south as dalhart Texas. I'm about as centrally located as possible.

I used affirm to buy a mountain bike. It was 0% for 12 months. If it wasn't interest free I wouldn't have bought it since it wasn't something I really needed but was a good price at the time.

I couldn't tell that your range and location was that variable. Maybe I misread your Salt Lake statement.

I'll take that as "not an option."

Trump changes the tax law. Unreimbursed employee expenses can no longer be deducted. Cost me 5k per year.

Not sure about affirm but usually w 0 for 6 type things on month 7 they back charge all the interest for the entire amount for all 6 months. Did that you g on my car care one card had about $25 left cost me like $150 in interest.
And no I wouldn't finance a lift. But we all know your going to.
Just get some take offs and fix her up for now. Will only take a few hrs.

No worries man. I just bought a house as centrally located as possible. They just send me where the work is. And where I live now when/if a local job opens up, I'll have 4 different places I can bid in to. It's about as perfect as I can do for now.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
How about some new OEM shocks and a set of airbags? I put airbags on mine (sub $300 if I remember correctly) and they're great for any extra load I put in the back, or tow.

I've been fortunate enough not to have to go work there. But our "zone" does run through there and it's always a possibility.

My vote goes towards getting what you need used for cheap and do what you you want as soon as reasonably possible. I totally get the buy once cry once mantra, but it's ok to use a crutch for a little while to get what you want in the near future.

OP. I wish you well. And you won't get any judgment from me about what to do with your money (especially since it sounds like you work hard for it).

There are three things for you to consider:

First and foremost is your safety. Driving that truck in the current condition all those miles might not be safe. The first consideration you should have is to fix your truck and make it 100 percent safe without question. That kind of points me in the direction of getting new replacement parts. They don't have to be a new lift but you should think that through carefully.

Second, is the notion of a loan. Not for the lift but a loan in general. You sound like you can pay off a small loan over time -- especially since you are getting reimbursed for the use of your vehicle. Your earlier post says you can cover the loan if you avoid a few stops here and there on a weekly basis. I don't know much about Affirm and don't use PayPal for loans but any of card or credit that gives you 0 percent is worth taking. That is not true for everyone, of course but since you can pay it off why not take advantage of it. If you go down this route make sure you fully understand the term -- and one trick is to pay off the loan at least one or two months prior. For example, if the deal is 0 percent for 12 months divide your payments into 10 months and pay off the loan early. Alot of these kinds of loans are very strict about the last payment and if it is not in time you pay all of the interest at the end that you would have owed. if you need something for safety, take the 0 percent and pay it off.

Third is the while lift versus standard replacement parts. You should map out both options so you can truly compare the cost. I personally wouldn't finance a luxury but then again everyone lives their own life the way they want. Are we talking a difference of a thousand bucks? Fifteen hundred? I'd document that first so I could make the must have versus nice to have decision.

So what happens if you use one of these magical finance plans and you lose your job? If you had money earning 5-6% and used the loan to let the investment ride, that's one thing. Because you could liquidate the pay off the note. But when you chose to be in debt for daily expenses with no back up position................

Debt is the enemy is a great thing to keep in mind.

Other folks have offered great suggestions on how to be safe and keep driving in a budget friendly way. One of those is the ticket.

Presidents don't change or create tax laws. Congress does. Doesn't matter if it was the presidents idea, recommendation or if they were for or against a specific change. It's Congress that makes it happen.

Not taking a position on the president or the law here. Just how it happens.

Wow..It sounds more of "want versus need" mentality. You blew out your rear shocks and now you want a whole new full suspension because of it bought on credit on top of the financial burden of a divorce and college debt....speechless.
Sorry guys but I can bet which route the OP is going to take. You know, can't be caught by a TW member with a bro lean in public. Don't want your truck to be on a bro lean thread.
