@KTJO 4x4 just be clear do we need to have a pop n lock locking handle already? Cause with the 3rd gens they already have a locking mechanism on the handle and the 2nd gens OEM handle doesn’t have a lock on it.

You do not need to have a Pop-N-Lock Handle already. It depends on how you plan for your install. If you would like this Kit to be 100% Plug-N-Play like the 3rd Gen Kit, then you will need to convert to a Kit similar to the one below:

@tacodnr who makes all of my brackets is doing a lot of research currently on options for the 2nd Gen Tailgate Handle. However, it seems like there are a variety of options out there which makes it difficult to make a BNL Bracket to meet everyone’s needs in the 2nd Gen era.

If it is not that important to you for it to be 100% PNP, then you can do it how I originally installed mine on my truck by drilling two holes in your tailgate for mounting the actuator directly to your tailgate instead.

This is a look from underneath at my actuator and how I mounted with screws, washers and locknuts. However, on the 3rd Gen thread, we started out like this and there were some very good install tips and some links with some washers that some members used that if I did it this way again I would use to level out the actuator rod. If you are interested in this install, I would also suggest you purchase my TAILGATE ROD for the Actuator as you will love it and it will be so much easier to install instead of this Rod in this picture.

Here is a look at the angle of the Rod.

Lastly, if you purchase the TAILGATE ROD it would prevent you from having to drill a hole in order to install the Rod in the picture.

Subbed, if you can use the stock (non-locking) handle on a 07.

Definitely interested in locking/unlocking with the remote fob. Would be cool if there wasn't a need for a key at all. I have a 2013 with just a camera with a stock latch.

very interested for my 10 with camera and no lock on tailgate handle. Was going to pull the trigger on a pop and lock soon, but now I'll be waiting to see how this ends up. Good work!

So will this have the opening feature with the remote like the 3rd gens? If so what happens when the tailgate drops? Maybe I missed something.

    UPDATE:

We have this Kit all worked out. The last little kink is the BNL with the Tailgate Handle. We are trying to figure out how to incorporate the BNL for everyone. I just wanted to give an update. You can definitely purchase this kit just knowing currently that it is Plug-N-Play right now but you do need to mount the actuator in the tailgate without the BNL. Soon hopefully this will be finalized.
