I’ve played with a few of these, the double pane glass reflects two images. Sometimes you can line it up better where it’s tolerable. This is solved with the sticker. Some HUDs, and I’ve bought these two, have a little pop up piece of plastic that addresses the problem.

If you want to see how it looks just goto your smartphone App Store and search on HUD. There is a lot to choose from. Or simple lay your smartphone down on the dash or in the corner and you’ll get a good idea of what I’m talking about.

Im guessing its like this because its not directly in front of the driver. In my experience with factory ones they have all been directly in front of the driver so it just basically projected perfectly on the glass. not sure how much benefit you would get from a heads up display that now causes difficulty seeing (if its outside the hood line.)

Agreed. The whole purpose of a HUD is so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. If I have to look down to the lower corner of the windshield to see the HUD data, I'm not really liking that.

If you remove that trim piece it is all one piece. So the only way to make that section, is to make a new mold of the whole thing. You will just get a new defrost vent cover to replace it.

 

I really think we are just going to have to test all of this out. It’s a new product on our truck and it’s really hard to say one way or another until we have the product on the truck. If that makes sense. All I know is that I truly believe in my Vendor and I know that when I bring something to their attention that needs fixed or adjusted, they get to it ASAP. I’m sure without any doubt in my mind, that as this product moves forward for us, it is going to continue to adapt and become amazing. I already know that my Vendor has some huge plans for it for us in the future. He already is planning a trip back to the US to just test my truck again to come up with all of the other stuff some of you guys have brought up to their attention. For example, the 2WD vs 4WD. Yes. They can do it. However, this is something they need the truck for with their engineer. They do not have a Tacoma, so they have to be with my truck to test it again to know what exactly they need to program in order to get that function programmed. They can get us whatever it is we want on this system. They just need time to get it done is what they have told me. So what I get right now is what we tested at SEMA and what we can come up with on the fly. Then we can add more when we can plan their next visit to me.

They do have a product already that has the Maps and Navigation in the HUD, but while we were at SEMA, for some reason I didn’t think of that because I have that in my HeadUnit with my WiFi Mirroring System that I will be offering soon to everyone. You will be able to display waze and whatever you want from your phone without having to connect your phone to anything through wires. You can connect any device through WiFi and mirror it to our HeadUnit. I just haven’t released it yet to you guys. However, they do have a HUD Display with this but they won’t be able to offer this to us quite yet. They can if we want make a separate display for us that would sit on the dash and display the phone. Kind of like what you see here













If people are interested in something like this let me know too because I can always offer this too. That would be really easy.

 

Ah...I see...well regretfully you can take me off the list @KTJO 4x4...I have custom carbon fiber overlays on the that vent so that’s a no go for me. Plus I’m very curious how much this will hinder the tweeters sound output. I was putting my hand over the tweeter where the hud will go and it really makes a huge difference.

 

This is something I will have to test when I get the sample. By the way...I have been told that the sample will be done next week and then it will be sent to me. Now the sample will have the car on it because it is only the sample and we were trying to get it to me ASAP so I can test it out on the truck. Plus I just now asked them to change it to the Truck so that’s kind of last minute. Anyhow, before people see the sample and see that it’s a car instead of a truck, I just want to put it out there that this is going to be the sample ONLY. Mainly just to make sure everything is working properly and so we can see it on our trucks before the real deal is made for us.

I’m not so sure you are going to have to look down at all. Our windshields aren’t exactly that long and so when it gets displayed upward, I think you may be surprised. We will be to wait and see
