BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Tacoma Heads-Up Display (HUD)

The HUD gets its MPH from the ODBC terminal. I noticed the same thing when I use ODBC Fusion.

 

It does match the dash when you set it. The time it didn’t match the dash is when I first received the unit and I didn’t have it set yet. That is the only time that it didn’t match my gauge. Now it is right on

 

UPDATE:

They are currently updating the color changes I have asked for with the blue and the yellow now and then they will send me the sample prior to ordering. I have been informed that the blue does not show up well with the sun so they would like me to test it out prior to placing the order. Toyota of China has requested all of theirs to be made with the green for this reason alone. We shall see soon.

 

I stumbled upon this thread the other day and read through it. I would prefer white lettering if possible also with the clock if that is an option. Feel free to pm or respond on the forum and I will be happy and excited to order and install this mod to my truck

 

It will only be one option as the circuit board is not cheap to make. As for the color option, I’m just testing the color options to see what is best. Trying to match our gauge as much as possible. I actually have asked for the following...



In order to get the clock on the circuit board, it would have to be an even more special order for just me because nobody uses a HUD with a clock on it I guess so it would be a very rare and expensive board to make. I have asked for a price on what the cost would be to make for us.

 

I see the blue would be for the rpm gauge. If green is easier thats fine by me,either way. Money is meant to be spent ,on our tacos . Very nice work on this BTW and really good idea. Very much looking forward to getting this and showing it off in some posts and in the real world lol.

Can we see what it looks like up on the windshield?

 

In my state, thats where we have our inspection sticker. I'm wondering if the HUD would work with the reflective film slapped on the back of the inspection sticker, and then how hard it would be to remove the reflective film to get a new inspection sticker.

Its looks like the speaker output will be reduce coz its been placed on top of it..

 

Yup saw them, but I wanted to see what the other icons look like (and working):


Yeah... not excited about the reduced speaker output too, but understandable. It's a little give 'n take.

 

Those of us that submitted a pre-order two months ago wait eagerly… Any estimated ETA?

Not yet. They are sending me this unit I believe this week to test the blue in the daylight. Supposed the blue doesn’t show as well and my vendor wants to make sure that I really want it verses the green. I think that will determine a lot

 

UPDATE:

This just got done and is being sent to me today to install and test out the Blue and see all of my changes I made. I will make sure to post some pics and new videos once it arrives.

 

Clock are included ?
