BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Tacoma Heads-Up Display (HUD)

Ok, so i just went through the whole thread and I didn't see anything about this. Maybe this is just a problem specifically for us New York people, but it seems that right where the film would be reflecting my inspection and registration stickers would be in the way. I have a picture attached. Is this an issue for anyone else? Does this mean I can't have this mod as a result? Thanks!

It may be higher than your sticker. I will not know this until I get it sent to me. That sucks you have to have those on your windshield there. I’d hate that. Are you able to move them as long as they are visible?

 

Nope. Needs to be in the lower left hand corner by law. :/

 

I had a Shift Sense Pro on my truck and worked fine all by itself. then i also installed a front parking sensor kit that connected to the OBD port that used the speed data as the Shiftsence did and it messed up the shifting points. I couldnt use both at the same time. I have since removed both devices from the OBD port. This will need to be tested for sure.

 

I’m asking for you though to see about adjusting ability. I believe there is an adjuster on the display where you can adjust the height up or down. I will let you know.

 

Thanks for doing that. This is the only reason I haven't pre-ordered this. Hopefully by the time they tell you yes or no there will still be spots open. I'd hate to miss out on this if it works out.

Yeah. You will have to test this if you have one of these. I have the OVT Tune so I just Flash my truck and I’m done. Easy. No shifting issues

I’m about to open it up, but I’m going to go ahead and go with the $200 Pre-Order and you follow the steps on the first page. It’s post #3 through PayPal. Remember all orders are done and made by paying first. This is not like my other mods. This one because there is a custom mold involved, I will need to receive your payment for the preorder list. My engineer is very excited about this and has already made this device and is testing this now. The quicker people pay. The quicker I get the testing until installed on my truck to show you all. The quick they make all your units and the quicker you all get them. If that all makes sense. The great thing about my vendor, is they move rather quickly. That is what I absolutely love about them but they do not lose the quality in their product. For those that have purchased from me before, you can definitely speaks for the quality of the product they produce. They pay a lot of attention to detail which is very important to me.

I would love to have a real HUD!
I’ve been playing with HUDs for years now, trying to find ones that really work. I’ve bought a few of them, used many smart phones combinations. And I’m still looking.

Have you tried these various products?

My main list of issues, with the ones I’ve tried

1. the double reflection in the windshield. Usually addressed, by tape or film on the windshield, or in another one I bought a small pop up screen.
2. Brightness in the day, sunglasses, and over brightness at night.
3. It has to be heads up and somewhat adjustable. I would be concerned about using the low left hand corner of your windshield.
4. Displaying actual useful information in the hud. Sure speed looks neat but after a few uses I just found it has not very useful by itself, or just the same information I all ready had in multiple locations. I wanted Speed, maps, navigation information.

I’m not trying to be negative, and would love you to solve these issues and be successful.

Thanks for your post. I will find out as much information for you as possible. I do know this device does have a Light Sensor that Automatically Adjusts depending on the time of day and brightness.



Also, I know that my Vendor uses Solar Film to help with Reflections etc.


As for the adjustability, my Engineer is currently looking into this right now and that being an added option for us.

 

I did ask to change the car from the HUD Device



to match the Tacoma Icon on our Truck
