I had an old VW with a Factory Metal Sunroof and a manual crank handle, it was a pretty neat setup.

First car I ever owned was a '73 Super Beetle with the factory crank sunroof. Leaked like a sieve.

I've had four or five vehicles since with a sunroof and every single one from Jeep to Mercedes leaked at some point.

Almost always because of the clogged drains, Florida pollen is a real bastard.

I dont care for the sunroof option either, but I wanted the OEM heated seats and thats the only way to get them unfortunately.

Same, probably only ever opened mine 5-6 times and didn't like the sun beating down on me

A sunroof wasn’t a must for me but at the time, it looked like that’s what was only available! Like I mentioned in my first post. If you buy any Toyota with a sunroof and you suspect any sign of water leakage and you’re still under warranty, take it in and demand that they replace it, and keep checking it after that. Take it to a car wash it and inspect it thoroughly. If they tell you that they’re going to only replace the gasket, tell them “bullshit!” I was already told that a new sunroof is needed. A gasket cannot be changed because it’s a whole unit.
