I miss my 2005 Prius mpg, but beyond that I love my Taco AC TRD OR.
The quality is not as good as the Made in Japan Prius. But I don't think
they'll ever make a Tacoma over there ever.

I still have buyers remorse and it's been a year now. is that a normal Tacoma thing?

I'm committed and will be buying the Pro. Now that I got that out of the way...

I spent a good half hour sitting in every seat and pressing every button, moving anything that can move and crawling under the truck at the LA Auto Show over the weekend.

There are several things that concern me and I really hope the model I sat in is one they take everywhere and thousands of people have abused it. Part of my concern and bias comes from currently driving an Audi where fit and finish is one of the best. Even my 2008 Sentra does not exhibit some of the things I saw in the Auto Show model.

    In no particular order...
When you pull the visor to remove it from the clip the headliner moves/flexes.
the overhead unit with the dome light and crawl control unit was not in place.. couldn't push it back in, maybe the clips are broken.. wtf are people doing in these cars?
The leather is weird, is it real leather? Even the "pleather" in my Audi feels/looks nicer. The leather felt very thin and I feel like they will wear/crack in a few years.

I really hope what I saw was just a sad Pro that had been abused by thousands of people.

Pretty normal for these third gens. Toyota Quality has slipped

Show cars lead a rough life. Go to a dealership and poke around, I'm sure it will be up to snuff. But seriously you're comparing an Audi against a Tacoma?
    Apples and oranges.

I'm not comparing. It's a baseline for where I'm coming from and what i've been used to for the past 3 years. Regardless, the headliner should not stress from pulling on the visor. I'm really hoping that's because it's a show car and a bunch of monsters have abused it by being too rough. My 2008 Sentra which is no Audi doesn't exhibit some of those things I saw.
I don't expect the buttons and knobs who have a weighted and premium feeling, but I also don't want the buttons to break or lettering fade in a few years. These are the things I expect from Chevy/Ford, not Toyota.

I don't know if I'd call it remorse - I love entire the truck really except I'm sorry I didn't make some effort to get rid of the premium entune for some credit or something. It's a giant screen on my dash that is reasonably useless. The nav is worse than any of the apps on my phone, the audio does not sound very good and it's phone integration is intentionally limited to just the junk Toyota got some strategic partnerships out of or whatever - it sure as f**k wasn't any sort of effort to provide useful tools to the buyer.

So... love the truck, do not love any part of the infotainment system at all. I'll remedy that myself once the holiday season stops stinging my wallet.

I wish I had bought a Tundra, this 3rd generation is no what I expected from Toyota. I have owned several Toyota trucks, this 2016 TRD was a big disappointment

I just traded in my 17 SR5 Doublecab 4x4 in on a diesel Canyon. The crappy gas mileage and the constant fight to keep the Tacoma at highway speeds finally got to me. I don't off-road, and spend 95% of my time commuting to work. The Canyon is the truck I should have bought. I'm not trying to bash the Tacoma, but the Tacoma is a terrible highway truck. It's better off road than the Canyon. My commute to work is 50 miles, and I averaged 29.5mpg today. Blew my mind.

I got an insane deal. I went to autotrader, and searched the lowest prices and Everett GMC near Little Rock had a $44,495 one on sale for $35,596. I didn't believe it was real, but the salesperson swore the only fee they add is a $50 doc fee. I told him I needed $32K for my Tacoma, which is what I paid for it, and he said they would do it. I'm out the $1700 leveling kit, wheels, and tires, but thats about it. I went from a base SR5 to a loaded SLT diesel. My payments went up $50 a month. I didn't go with a Canyon when I bought the Tacoma, because I couldn't find a deal. This was a no brainer for me. To be fair, the truck had a Tag Bonus rebate that not all of them have. Their website has the same sale prices at auto trader. Ryan Jones was my salesperson, and he was great.

The remorse will come when the frame rots out on 8 to 10 years, just like every other tacoma ever made

Yeah like any other vehicle with a frame that is not taken care of when driven in areas where roads are treated in the winter. I had a 98 Ranger that had major frame rust after 10 yrs, and got so bad had to park it because the suspension components were so far gone it wasn't safe to drive it. If measures are taken(Fluid Film or other like product application) and proper vehicle hygiene is preformed then the frame will have a better chance of surviving.

There are many trucks that the frames have lasted decades of bad winters. That's a bs cop out. Toyota frames absolutely suck

I've been eyeing this over as well, loved the space and power on the 5.7 v8. Seeing Fuelly numbers scares me a bit though. Im debating if I'd rather have one of the new 4Runners or a crew cab tundy at this point.
