18 DCSB Sport. I'm beginning to have buyers remorse and I may need to be reeled back in by some less OCD members. :crazy:As many, I'm not very happy with the performance and comfort of the 3rd gen. Many folks seem to think the Tacoma has lost it's way and most of have "drank the kool-aid of Tacomas in the past"...

I was driving a BMW and needed the practicality of pickup and didnt need a full size so naturally the Tacoma was the choice. Not many alternatives...

Before I go do something drastic...what words of wisdom can anyone offer? It drives me crazy when I read reviews like, "wish I kept my 2nd gen" and "Toyota really dropped the ball with the Atkinson engine, dont make the mistake I did" and "that engine is a dog!"

Stop reading reviews AFTER you buy the truck.

I felt the same way because I’d never bought a new vehicle before and was anxious as shit for a couple of days after. It’s gone now though and I love my truck and even though I wanted a DCLB I’m glad I went access.

What changed from the time you test drove it till now? You came from a BMW, so a truck is going to be a rougher ride and slower, just enjoy it for what it is.

Have you tried driving with ECT on and S4 or S5. There is also a harness you can get for ECT always on. I havent got the mod yet, but I do turn ECT on just about every time and it helps me. Also the torque/power is there, its just in the higher RPM range, make her scream.
As for comfort, I had a 2005 dodge dakota that had a better seat, but I think I finally got this one fairly close to a comfortable setting. Make sure you adjust the lumbar suport properly, that really helped me.

Yeah that only happened to me during one car purchase. My 15 taco I think because it was new and more than I’d ever thought I’d spent on a vehicle. Customized the seat and got used to the down grade in hp/ tq and got really used to not having to spend a 100 $ a week in fuel and barely drove anywhere. I love it now there’s no perfect vehicle though well maybe if your rich .

Be thankful you're not driving a new Dodge. Regear, lift it, 35s, skids, bumpers, bed rack, tent and go do Moab or CO, or someplace else that's bitchen. You will love your truck. Wish I could have a new truck. Good luck.

The test drive was short and with salesman in the passenger seat. Chatting and such. Of course I'm not comparing a BMW performance sedan to a Tacoma, but I guess the 40k price tag makes it a hard pill to swallow.

I honestly didnt read reviews about the truck because I have always been sold on the Tacoma reputation.

Perhaps the OV tune can add some drivability improvement??

This forum is no doubt a great resource, but also can be discouraging...hence the post above "sell it and get a 15"

I regret buying mine, I wish I had bought a F150/F250 like my significant other suggested I should lol.

However I don’t dislike the truck, I just need more room and power. I will eventually be upgrading to a full size in the near future.

People expect old trucks to be slow and less than perfect, think 1st Gen.

People expect new trucks to be perfect but they aren't, think 3rd Gen.

Peoples expectations lessen as the price drops, Think 2nd Gen.

When 3rd gens are 15 to 20 yrs old, I predict they will be be loved almost as much as first gens are currently, as first gens are still less powerful than 3rd gens anyway.

    I brace 4 impact.
