Did you make an impulse buy with the truck or did you do your research and take a test drive?

Bought a 2019 MT in Cavalry blue and couldn’t be happier. No remorse.
I did buying my wife’s 2017 23k RAV4. It was certified used. Should have bought her a new one.

"Not many alternatives"? Here's an alternative: Get yourself another BMW. When you want a smooth Sunday driver, you'll have one. Lot's of people have two vehicles.

Well I am on day three of my 2019 DCSB OR ownership. I traded my 2018 F250 SuperDuty for it. I owned a BMW 5 series before that along with a Porsche, Prius, VW Passat, Jeep, Acura. I have loved every ride except for the Prius, that is a truly shit car. The Taco is not quick, it is a little tough to get into, but I love it so far. It is a manual and love rowing through the gears. I expect to keep her until handing off to my son when he gets old enough and that is 9 years away.

These threads rank up with the new Ranger ones.

Personally, if I’m not 90% satisfied with the performance of my chosen vehicles, I go get the one that gets me off.

Obviously we all have different expectations, needs/wants, and a budget to stay within.

I bought a 18 OR DCLB after a long period of searching and reviewing various trucks and SUVs. I saw some of the negative comments and some seem justified. In the end my gut assured me that I liked the truck and was happy at the potential it provided for enjoying the outdoors. I also personally feel its pretty badass looking. Sure many folks have them as they are quite ubiquitous but I'm happy with my choice and feel great when I walk out and see it in the lot. I hope you are able to find some comfort with it, give it a shot. Flex its potential a bit. Hell, if the decision still keeps you up at night... sell it and get something that makes you feel comfortable. Just be sure to make that decision off of your own analysis and not the biased comments of others. All the best.

The hp/tq numbers are practically the same for the 2nd gen:3rd gen given the weight difference. Adjusting how you drive isn't hard...I think this is more of an issue of comparing your BMW to a truck.

I test drove 2018 and 19s, thought they were dogs as well. Then I quit driving the 3 series and drove my 2000 taco for a week, went out and test drove again. Crazy how much nicer the 19s were after that. If you want a BMW still, buy mine?

I actually almost bought a superduty fx4. I loved the drive that i had it for 2 weeks, Thing was a limo. But was also a chore to drive anywhere but the highway. and DEF is Stupid.

I think most that are having remorse, myself included came from something other than toyo or Honda. Ie, German or American. Meaning you had power when you pressed the accelerator, torque down low and up through the rev range. Way more linear curve. The Taco reminds me of vtech yo. Flat curve no power then You hit 3500-4000 rpm and the motor goes when it opens up. Not to mention the trans constantly hunts for gears. You don't notice these on the test drives. But once you DD these for awhile it's all you notice. ECT makes the throttle twitchy and severe rev hang in upshifts. You notice these way more when you've never driven a taco before this. Even post tsb, it's better but still wonky. I'm already into this one so won't trade for a bit, but I won't buy another toyo after this. So yeah, most with remorse aren't drinking the kool aid, or haven't been for years. Grip it and rip it, or trade it

“sell it and get a 15”

She probably has no idea what she is talking about when she suggested that. I have owned both and the 3rd gen has WAY less headaches! it is also on a couple of yrs old as opposed to 10+ Yrs.

I traded a 2016 Camaro 2SS for my 2018 AC TRD Sport 4WD 6MT. I miss the MPG of the Camaro (28-30+ on the highway), creature comforts (remote start, HUD and heated / ventilated seats) and obviously the HP of the Camaro. I also miss the AT at times.

But honestly its nice not worrying about having to borrow or rent a truck to haul something... replacing expensive tires (I had to replace three in two years thanks to punctures that couldn't be repaired)... having to proceed gingerly into any driveway or parking lot with an incline... swapping summer / winter wheels and tires... climbing out of the low seats... having everyone want to "race" , etc.

Now I just drive the Tacoma. No worry. No fuss. It goes anywhere and I find myself not as OCD about keeping the outside immaculate like I did the Camaro. It's a truck. A little dirt adds character. And I love the resale value of the Tacoma.

Traded my 2015 2 weeks ago for a 2019. Wanted a short bed since day one but couldn't have it auto in canada.

    What I like so far:
    Led daylight
Like the turning radius (went from DCLB to DCSB)
Love the interior a lot (the other one was way outdated)
    Darker seat
Love the cluster and info display (Fuel average, outside temp!!!)
    the slow tailgate drop
    Locking tailgate
Love the auto headlight, auto hi to low beam,
Auto rear window is nice as well
    Look of the bed/rear-end
    Love the push button start
No key door lock and unlock
It was a weird feeling at first but love the black roof instead of white
Stock wheels are way nicer that the gen2
    Stock tires as well.
Quieter (it seems to have better seals/weatherstrip)
The two trailer plugs (no more needs for the adapter)
    Bed light!!!
    no more long antenna!

Stuff that I don’t mind or havent use yet but still a plus:
    Crawl control and locking diff.
Not a big fan of TSS but its a plus I guess.
    Climate control
    Hand brake instead of pedal

    What I miss:
    - Look of the front end. I really liked the mean look of the 2012-2015
    - The engine bottom end. I was well aware and didn’t need more anyways but it does feel differents, and for sure wouldn't trade it for a gen2.

Here’s a simple thought, don’t expect a truck to handle and feel like a car. I almost traded mine in to, it couldn’t go nearly as many places as the military vehicles I was in could go. Pshhttt it won’t even handle small arms fire, I hate Tacoma’s.

forums can be mind blowing at times...preventative maintenance, Bi7chin', issues and let us not forget the bias Love.

i bought mine almost site/test drive unseen....was I disappointing in the drive train?....for about a week or two, yes.

now, it is just like ANY other automobile...good and bad things stick out.

however, after a month and some mods (bonding with my taco)...I would not give it up for anything (bias love)

Dude for every 99 happy Tacoma owners there is always 1 guy who comes on TacomaWorld and talks shit about his truck because he is an unhappy person. If the same guy bought some other midsize truck, he would be on that other forum also talking shit.

Some people complain about stuff and are never satisfied. You bought a nice truck that is really reliable and outsells any other midsize truck. You need someone to reaffirm that to you online?
