we get it, you don't trust shiny and new. doesn't mean he's covering anything up.

And I think you'd be surprised how many people clean their engines.

truck was involved in a major front end collision and was completely rebuilt. And seller 'apparently' had no idea lol.. I mean it takes a special sorta someone. And u say he's got nothing to hide.. Tlrtucker u retarded bud?

Do your future self a favor get a nice straight tacoma, nice interior higher miles $8k, drop a new engine in if u want $2k, put that extra $6k to down payment on your house, enjoy lower a mortgage payment, and don't worry about a car payment

Slow your roll buddy, no need for the personal attacks.

You don't actually know it was a "major" accident, or that it was "completely rebuilt" anyway. All anyone knows is that the carfax says it was in a collision with engine damage and they paid out $7k. That's not much more than what my insurance paid out for a deer slapping the side of my 4Runner about a year ago.

Plenty of people have zero clue about their cars, which is why I never take them at their word anyway. Again, that's why OP is taking it to a mechanic.

Personally I would never purchase a vehicle that had been in any type of accident. Not trying to throw a sales pitch in but if you are located in Texas I am about to sell a 2003 with 89K original miles.

Then I take it you only buy brand new vehicles?

What if you get in one of these wrecks in your own vehicle? Do you trash it and buy a new one?

    Too few to list.
Just for reference, I bought a 2004 AC 4x4 manual TRD OR with 53K miles at a Toyota Dealership for $15.5K. They had listed it at $17,995. This was in 2015 though. Clean carfax, 1st owner. I would skip any accident vehicles personally.

No... I don't trash a vehicle if I am in a accident but I wouldn't intentionally buy one that had been in one when there are plenty to choose from that haven't.

If you want a first gen, you kinda have to take what's out there, which isn't much. Even if this truck was rolled and never repaired, there'd be a lot of people jumping at teh chance to buy it given it's 4x4, low miles, rust free, etc...

But if you can determine if the work was done correctly, it's really no different than driving around in your own car that was repaired.

I am about to sell a 2003 4X4 DC TRD with 89K miles. I have 3 and am very aware of the demand of 1st gens but would still not buy something that had been in a major accident. Maybe it is different where you live.

There are plenty of vehicles that were clearly improperly repaired after a collision, but that's usually pretty easy to spot if you know what to look for (or have a mechanic that does).

Personally, I'd rather have a stock vehicle that was properly repaired after a collision than a truck with zero accidents that some bro slapped a lift kit, custom light bar and after market stereo system. Al that "custom" work will create all manor of electrical gremlins you'd never be able to trace.
