If you buy oem with the vehicle it piggy backs the manufacturer 3 year warranty as part of the truck.

That is exactly what I am saying. Toyota is not very good with these types of parts. It is not factory, it is a port installed option. There is no cover installed at the factory.

I went with Gator EFX, it's not even out of the box and I'm regretting it:
I paid $100 MORE for this over the Tyger T5, for what?

Sorry gator, but if your products are showing up like this, someone needs to get fired in Shipping and Receiving or packaging, etc. What an embarrassment.

The Diamondback is great I never have to worry about what is in the bed and it keeps everything dry even when I pressure wash the truck. You can take it off in about 10 min by yourself or 5 with another person. And if you get the HD you can put up to 1600Lbs on top of it.

I have the factory tri-fold cover and I love it. It looks great and hardly leaks in the rain, and I live in the Pacific North West where it rains a lot.

OEM one came with my truck.

    Positives
    - Haven't experienced leaks, granted I live in SoCal, so the rain is far and few between
    - When it's down and the tailgate is locked, no one can get in
    - It folds up into 3 sections nicely and has a secure locking mechanism

    Negatives
    - Like others shared, it makes the bed rail look ugly af
    - Heavy for my gf to fold up by herself
    - Color fades quickly
    - Somewhat a nuisance to completely remove off the truck

I have the OEM tonneau as well. Mine doesn't leak much, but it does a little. Not so much in regular rain but definitely when going through anything with pressure like a carwash (I only go through touchless usually, so can't say with others). Haven't noticed much if any fading, but I'm lucky to be able to keep it in a garage so it isn't exposed to sun and weather all the time like others might be.

I actually fully took it off for the first time last weekend. It isn't too bad, but you do need to remember to keep a 12mm socket and ratchet in your vehicle if you want to be able to do it at anytime. They have a safety bolt on there you have to take out and after that is super simple.

I agree on it making the rail look bad too though. Even worse is there are pegs sticking out into the bed for it to latch too, that catch/scratch stuff when you try to load it. So you have to be very careful how you load stuff so it doesn't snag on those. I'm thinking I might upgrade to a 2020 and won't be getting OEM tonneau on it for sure mostly for that reason. Either go aftermarket or maybe even step up to a topper.

There is a very good video on YouTube that shows how bad the OEM cover can be damaged by the cargo if you are not careful. Some of the units quoted here are really well made, and the Diamondback is crazy well made.

I don't care for the way the OEM latches, or that you can't access the part closest to the cab without removing.

The deal breakers were that a few I have seen look like faded smashed ass, and cutting the bed rails looks terrible too.

So, why is the OEM cover the only one that requires cutting the bed rails? Seems to me if this were aftermarket, fewer people would find that acceptable.

Also, since you have to buy it new or used, but not as an option, this means finding your color, your config would be more difficult so you should expect to be really lucky or overpay.

There are two thumb wheels you tighten to keep the front end in place. I tightened them down pretty snug.

False it is a factory installed option not port.
