Hey y'all, long time reader here, but never owned a Tacoma.

I found a first gen Tacoma I'm looking to buy. But, its in another city. I'm being told that there's a squealing sound (belt?) when first starting the truck. It goes away after a bit. Also, it only happens when starting truck with the a/c on.

Can anyone diagnose from afar? Alternator Belt? Any other possibilities?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Accessory belt needs tightened. Probably time to replace it.

There's 3 accessory belts (a/c p/s and alt)with a cam timing belt. I usually suggest changing them all in one shot. The AC belt may be the culprit but any loose/worn belt can cause noise under varying load.

Use a flash light and look for cracks and weathering on the belts. They may be ok and just need readjustment. The timing belt is difficult to inspect and usually relies on the previous owner supplying service history.

Thanks Bishop. Think I'm going to try to get them to replace all 3 for the hell of it.
