Thinking about buying a first gen, like the size better, would be a second car for fishing, off-roading, trips when i need to carry stuff etc...

started looking on auto trader and the like...just wondering so many seem to be very high miles ( like 150K or higher) below $ 12000 wich is top most I would like to spend

just wondering how safe would buying used be with this generation given very high miles?

also would want a v6 and possibly add a supercharger so any hints would be appreciated from you awesome and knowledgeable people!

just to give you an idea

I paid $8k for my 2001 extra cab NOT TRD 4x4 v6 manual with 146k miles on it in 2008.

I think I got a decent deal on it.

I wouldn't be afraid to buy one with high miles as long as you have service records and carfax reports on it.

Mine is going strong at 175k miles and there are many on here with 200k+ and one that I know of with 300k+ on this v6 engine.

You can get a nice truck with less than 100k miles with $12000

They are great trucks. Just check the frame near the rear axle for rust with a ball peen hammer.

    ah yes forgot about this.

Crawl under the truck and check every inch of the frame, frame rust is probably the only major flaw of these trucks.
