I’m going to look at a 2012 Tacoma on Monday, and this will be my first 2nd gen. Does anyone have any suggestions on issues that I should look for?

Close look at the frame for rust. Check the air boost pump, see if the foam air filter has been sucked into the supplimental exhaust valves.

Not sure about anything else. Late model 2nd gens are pretty solid.

Thanks, do you think 13,400 for a 2012 with 170k miles is a good deal. It’s in pretty good condition with 4x4

Ah, the good old 2012 with the great enhancement feature of “limp mode” so when you’re cruising along on the highway at 70mph, it’ll just randomly kick in and plummet you to 10mph.

The frame is in really good condition from the pics, but I will definitely check when I am there. It looks like a sr5 with the trd off-road wheels and it does have 4x4 that I will check. And yes it is a V6.E002E9F8-5744-4446-9C46-55BB0846C188.jpg8E77BAD1-7961-4A38-BC2F-67B8952F26DF.jpgD2992BD7-2F9B-4C54-9CAC-FF770D628716.jpg8453E5A3-0F2A-4FC7-8289-186A77785008.jpg

13,500 with 170k miles, the fees should be low since it’s a small dealership

You should be able to get that down some with that mileage. I'd sit on it & let them call you in a day or 2! Has the frame been replaced?

No it’s original, it’s been in a rust free area and I think Toyota fixed the frame rust issues in 2010. I’m in no rush, I need to sell my 1st gen before I buy anything.

That truck wont last on the lot very long, it is exceptionally clean on the underside.
Looks like u could get money off for new tires.

Looks pretty good to me, and the price is pretty good I’d say go for it if everything checks out in person

I highly doubt many people are car shopping right now during stay-at-home, so it should last

OP, talk them down to $11k. Dealers should be desperate right now for sales

I’m torn between asking high and my current truck sitting for too long or asking low so it will sell quick and I can get this one
