This is so true I always say as long as you can do the majority of the work on these trucks they are not bad.

If your paying going shop rate which can be so very different across the country for every time a wrench is turned .

A truck payment might work out to be cheaper

Pull the oil filler cap with the truck running and set the cap on top it should want to sit on there with gravity alone, maybe a *tiny* bit of suction, if it gets blown of or sucked back and forth the rings are gone and your compression and power is mostly gone from that engine.

Anything else is normal car buying stuff regardless of miles, check the frame for rust, the fluid colors and levels, check your rubbers and general condition of the vehicle as a whole.

Cleanliness is also a major sign of how well a vehicle was treated, if it's a sloppy stained stye inside it probably didn't see a whole lot of maintenance in of the unseen things either.

Interesting going by your last statement my Tacoma is still on the original oil filter at 250,000 miles .

I have better things to do then clean and make the interior of the truck pretty or the outside unless it is drive train and suspension related parts .

Then I have really never sold a vehicle in my life they go for scrap or get given away.

Major sign not a rule!

My own truck needs a good thorough clean out, I'll get to it, eventually, don't need a reoccurring 6mo reminder.

But if I was going to be selling a vehicle I would make it as presentable as possible, I've walked away from a few sales just cause I didn't want to empty someone else's garbage truck.
