Stay away from the bayliner. We had that boat previously and it was a great boat, but once the lower end went out it was time for a new boat. They no longer make the parts to rebuild it.

Dont listen to that shit.. my dad and i have one and we love it each day. Just if you do get one, and its ALREADY named.. dont re-name it, seriously.. its a huge curse supposedly. You have to do some ritual first before renaming it.

    Look at build!
War Eagle! Get a jon boat, their pretty much indestructible, i know ours goes through hell and back between the swamps and jumping logs & they dont take much power and whatnot, unless you are going to be in the ocean!

The older Chrysler engines, yes. IN the late 80's, Merc. Marine took over building the engines for Bayliner. After Bayliner was taken over by Brunswick corp. their quality improved dramaticly.

OP...it all depends on the price of the boats in question. FWIW, I have a '97 Bayliner thats been barley maintained, and runs great! Every gauge still works, and everything. Theres a few members on here that can attest to how well they run :)
