So im selling my 2008 DCLB so i can get a 4X4 and while searching i came across a crashed 2017 with the front airbags deployed, some hood, grill, headlight, and fender damage. Im pretty sure the frame and all the suspension parts are straight and good to go. Will toyota warranty a salvaged car? Do you think it would just cost to much and i should just ditch the idea all together?

Yeah, don't do it. You would never be able to get your investment back.

I don't think any brand will warranty anything on a salvaged title vehicle.

Mind if i ask whats so expensive about it? From what i can tell replacing headlights, hood, radiator, grill, bumper, and fenders is easy and not to expensive (im a toyota tech i get parts at toyota prices) the only difficult thing would be the airbags right? I know 16,000 is way to high for the price i was just wondering how everyone felt about the actual truck.
    Edit: its driveable

Hey man I have some experience with these things. Throughout college I've had a dealer license and have been flipping bikes/cars from the auction. It's not worth it if you're looking for a car for yourself. The airbags you could probably do yourself for 500-600 bucks. You can get the computer reset. The body work costs a ton of money. You will pay an arm and a leg for the parts and getting the paint to match. Then you'll have to get a rebuilt title from the state which will be on the truck forever. You will never be able to sell for as much as a clean title will sell for. Then at the end of the day, there will always be something left over that just isn't right with the truck or how the body work was done.

It will cost you the same when you're done with it.

This dude probably bought at auction for a little under what he is selling for. Probably trying to get back what he has in price and fees paid. They do this when they buy on an online auction and then when the truck gets delivered they realize there's a ton more damage underneath or something is wrong. This has happened to buddies of mine.

But hey at the end of the day do what you want.

If the airbag deployed, decent chance the frame got tweaked. If you are planning on turning it into an Long travel jumper where you would reinforce and hack shit anyway then I say go for it. If you want to return it to stock and buy a lot of new stuff, I would look else where unless you have a frame machine? I had an issue arise on my truck where I had to use the frame machine...not a cheap route man trust me. Good thing was the airbag didn't deploy when that happened. The title alone will hurt you regardless of your game plan unless its strictly a modified trail rig anyway.

parts are expensive, I had to replace my driver side headlight assembly due to material flying out of a stake bed truck and hitting mine. Just one headlight assembly is slightly under $800 with the DRL. New hood will run you at least $1000 , grill's another $400+, airbags are likely $600+ each

If it was just as cheap and easy as you think for a couple of simple parts then insurance would have fixed it. Must be alot of damage to cost more than 30k to fix or whatever the truck is worth.

Holy hell he raised the price lmao. I asked how firm he was on price since 16000 was to high for me so he bumps it up to 17,500 :facepalm::facepalm:o_O

So many red flags... here's the guy's entire craigslist post:

"Here is a great truck up for sell must see runs and drives excellent this truck has very light damage to the left front easy to built call"

I wouldn't want any part of this truck/deal/seller even if it was for $1.

Doooooodddde you really don't want that thing. However your tenacity and willingness to take on a supremely challenging project is commendable.

It would be hard to put lipstick on that pig...
