    Hey Folks,

I'm looking at coming back to Tacoma (again) and have been talking with the local Toyota dealer. It looks like I can get a base Tacoma TRD-OR DCSB AT for about $35,300 and considering paying them to start me out with their 2" lift and/or TRD Wheels + BFG tires. To that end... I'm curious about anyone else that's bought a Tacoma with the dealer provided lift.

My specific question is, what is a dealer "most likely" to use for a 2" lift? Or what did they do for YOUR lift when you picked this option?

Bonus points if you happened to do this at the Larry Miller Toyota dealership in Boulder, CO.

I'd consider a 2" on my own since it won't mess with suspension geometry, so just wondering if it's worth it to let them do it and fit it in the loan.

My dealer has them (spacer lift) $ 499.00 2" Front only, $899 3/1 installed. Doubt they due ECGS for that. Didn't want spacer lift. But they wil get you anything for a price, that's what they told me.

Always makes me curious, if dealer installs the lift and the Needle bearing takes a shit, who foots the bill? I’ve seen where customer does and seen where dealership/toyota will

Thanks guys, I guess it's unsurprising... I was just hoping someone would say "I know they won't do a spacer lift" more than anything. But... its a dealership, the least amount for the most money. /c:

It seems like, from the threads I've reviewed, the smartest way for casual use is the BP-51 setup. Perhaps I'll just consider over-loaning and order my own lift.

    Thanks again

Why don't you just ask the dealer what lift they're offering? No point in making a major buying decision based on a random guess.

They claim Toytec (https://www.bouldertoyota.com/trd/tacoma.htm) which would be the boss suspension I believe but for the price do it yourself and save some dollars. Or have another shop do it will be cheaper. Better yet go to Toytec in Denver after you get it and they, im sure, would not charge you $12,000 OTD

I'm not financing the whole thing and would only do it with their low (1.9%) rate to do it early. I may also just drive it for a year before doing anything anyway. I have a paid off vehicle to sell first, so it'll depend on how much I get there and how much I want to pull from savings for the rest.

Yah I will the next time I talk to them, but figure there might be a quick response here. I just talked to them this morning and had neglected to ask when I talked to them this morning.

Agreed, not sure I need a full blown Toytec lift, if I do something it'll probably be fairly minor.

After seeing the guys working in the service department at my dealer I barely trust them to change the oil.

Your dealer might be better, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Casual use is the BP-51? The hell? Lol. No. Grab some 5100s at least. Spacers aren’t the end of the world, but $400 is the end of the world for a spacer lift lol

Noted, I'll re-invest my search. I think I last read about the BP-51 right after they came out and everyone loved them. I haven't really looked into Tacoma lift stuff in a while and must be mis-remembering. I'm coming from a Wrangler and we aren't using the BP-51 at all over there... I thought the BP-51 on Tacomas was a somewhat simple way to tune the lift height without a ton of additional changes.

I have lifted just about every truck that I have had. I have never had the dealer instal a lift for me, but rather went to a highly recommended 4x4 shop or friend/family that have far more mechanical skills than I do. That being said, I have seen a lot of threads here on TW where there are a group of guys (in various regions) that have build days and help members out with their builds.

With this particular truck I have held off for a while to see how I like it stock, and while a very capable vehicle stock; I like the looks of the lifted vehicle. My use is very very minimal off-road use (95% or more on road).

I have run spacer lifts (leveling kits), full drop bracket lifts, and coil-over lifts. Depending on how you are going to use your truck can/should dictate what type of kit that you eventually get. I have tossed around the idea of using all of these types of kits since I have had the truck, and honestly I am still torn as to which direction that I want to go. Realistically for me; 5100's on all four corners with an Icon Progressive AAL is the direction that I am heading, but that could change next week and it may be a 6" BDS kit.

Make sure that you are happy with what you are trying to achieve and pay for it only once. Just my $.02. Enjoy your new truck whatever way you decide to go.

I've only had one lifted vehicle (I think) and it's my current Jeep. I did the lift with a buddy and it took a bit over a day to and wasn't so bad. I think it's easier on Jeeps though... coil overs are a bit of a pain, so I might look at booster. I'll watch for your build post to see what you choose.

So . . . . is this just a "Super-Bro-Cool" lift, or are you actually going to go into the rough to actually need it??

    Just asking.

No plans to rock climb with it, more likely fire roads and mild off-roading. Some bro cool lift I suppose inasmuch as I do like the look with a slight increase in lift. I'd consider bro lifts to be the overkill lift (4-7") with 35s... this won't be that extreme. I'll be towing a camper and/or hitting state/national parks for some car camping/overlanding on occasion.
