A guy flew from Texas to Northern VA to buy my 2000 v6, 5spd, 4x4 TRD truck for $7500 with a rebuilt title and 160k miles. :taco:

I sent pictures that the frame was mint, and he said he was happy to pay the price as he was saving thousands over local trucks.

For 20k I’d be looking at newer rigs...and the one with higher mileage I’d offer less if that is what you wanted. There’s soooo many used Tacoma’s out in the world,it’s not difficult to find many trucks to cross shop.

    1) I am not interested AT ALL in G2

    2) I want crew cab, 3.4L, 4x4, non smoker. Standard or automatic

WHERE ARE ALL THE GREAT DEALS EVERYONE IS REFERRING TO?

I have been searching autotrader, craigslist and Ebay for 3 months.

Show me the above combo in a color other than black or white for under $10k with a good frame

L:rofl:L...... I know , I had spend so much time researching until I finally found the one I drive now days with 55,000 miles one single corporate owner for $18,218 out of door price..... for many including me is A LOT of money but I didn't let pass the deal because I rather pay it with a loan in 4 years than a less expensive truck ($12 to $14,000) but with almost 200,000 miles on it. I know everyone's opinion is different but 2nd hand with lots of miles bothers me.

There are not such a great deals with the specifications you're looking with low miles on it.

I hate the feeling of WANT after you buy something other than what you really wanted.

    Silver
    4x4
    2001-2004
    Double Cab
    3.4L
    Non smoker owned
    Solid frame
No body rust in the tight spots

Every time I reach out to a seller asking about the frame they always reply "it's good"

    Then the photos suggest otherwise

There is a perfect one in Virginia but the dealer wants $18,500 plus tax

For me that is $20,500 USD incl taxes and fees, plus about $1,800 USD shipping to the border, plus about $400 USD import fees and then about $600 Cdn taxes. THEN I have to get it inspected and other crap (daytime running lights) .
When all is said and done $30k cdn for a super nice 15 year old truck.......NOPE

These sweet trucks do hold their value. I recently found out that most institutions (banks, finance companies and insurance companies) use NADA book prices. Kelly Blue Book is convenient but runs a little low. This spring I picked up a garage kept 2004 4x4 loaded with 63,000 miles. I thought I paid too much for it but NADA price was $15,655 according to my insurance company and my credit union where financed and they didn't include the cap. (I paid just over $13K.)
Looking the frame over with a hammer is a good idea however the frame next to the gas tank can not be hammered and difficult to see without a strong light. Look at this area carefully.

I'm looking at an 02 with 231k on the clock tonight. Pictures look very clean, lots of maintenance has been done recently, as well as new parts.

6in lift, 33s, lots of other mods. Buddy has the guy down to $8k

Aside from checking the frame for cancer, any other points of concern to look for? Maybe pop the radiator cap to look for the milkshake?

I am from South Dakota and I purchased by 02 Double Cab 4x4 with less than 80,000 miles out of Colorado. I got pics, video, car fax etc ahead of time then booked a 1 way ticket to go take a look. It didn't hurt that 1 way tickets each way were under $50 each way on Frontier airlines.

I had a good idea I was going to buy it when I got there but the truck did have some minor items that were not called out when I asked about issues etc, so when I got there, I negotiated the price down to what I through was reasonable and the deal was done.

Drove it back home to South Dakota the same day or should I say overnight.

I was willing to go anywhere in the US to get the right truck at the right price.

That's how I feel...problem is that right now there is nothing available with my specs for a good price. I am searching KIJIJI .......CRAIGSLIST .......AUTOTRADER (both. Com and .ca) and Ebay.

    Am I missing something ?

I searched for over a year and missed out on a couple even better trucks at better prices than what I got because I was not decisive. If you find one you like, snatch it up or someone else will.

I agree with this to a point. Look beyond the mileage to the maintance done, and just as important, the previous owner. Were they a librarian, or a seventeen year old kid who took it wheeling every weekend?
