I really like this truck but I am looking for opinions on the frame.
See photos. I cant go booking a flight just to LOOK at a frame.
It looks the same as the undercarriage of my wife's 2004 Chevy

I have a 2000 MT Tacoma with 268K miles still pulling strong However very important the Timing Belt and water Pump both have been replaced twice now first time at 120K miles and second Time at 250K miles and I am glad I did the First time because the water pump was showing a very small amount of leakage starting. Replaced the OEM starter at 190K when the copper disc in the solenoid wore out and have done regular change of the fan belts, spark plugs and other common wear items but that is it along with full service oil changes for Third members and Transmission.

I wouldn't hesitate purchasing a high mileage 1st Gen Tacoma at all if it checks out in good condition. I bought mine new in 1996 and have enjoyed 410,000 trouble-miles with it.
Purchased a 2018 Tacoma a couple weeks ago and salesman ask if I would be trading it in and I told him not unless you are going to swap me even.

I’ve been stalking this forum for the last couple of months in anticipation on buying a 1st gen. The high mileage of a ~20 yo truck used to concern me. After reading up on reliability I chilled out a bit.

Finally pulled the trigger yesterday after finding a 01 DC 4x TRD/Limited. 173K and runs strong. There is an oil seep from the right valve cover which I don’t think is a big deal. Initially listed for $10,900 but I was able to negotiate to $6800, about mid KBB.

Should be a heck of a truck after it’s all buttoned/cleaned up.

    Sorry for the hijack,

    Mike

Negotiation from 10,900 down to 6,800 is rare.

IMO, the frame, the entire undercarriage looks rough to me. Guessing not a CA truck.

Same here, I would be a little hesitant to purchase.
