I wanted to buy a AG 4R OR at the end of 22. Worst time to get a Toyota with a discontinued color. No out of state dealer would sell one to me. Toyota dealer can be compared to fascist dictators at times.

From a true butt hurt pro owner. Haha. The pro may “look” cool but that’s about it. A $40k off-road with $10k in upgrades would run circles around your pro. It doesn’t make sense to buy a pro these days especially when dealers bend you over and add an additional $5-10k in markup. But hey at least you can say you have a “pro” lol!

2.7 has been around a bit, it’s not new. Looking at common issues, people report issues with carbon buildup and lower fuel economy. They aren’t grenading or anything terrible. Have you done any research or just spouting bull?

You don't think the trail camera has any off-road use? You don't think leather seats are easier to clean dust, mudd, and snow off of them cloth?

I have two TRD pros and I have wheeled both. Even the adaptive cruise control adds value on the long drives before I go off-road.

That’s because they’re still somewhat new. I haven’t seen one making it to 100k yet so we’ll see. Everyone knows with direct injection you’ll get carbon buildup. Nothing new there. Also, GM is still dealing with lawsuits regarding the cylinder deactivation. So yes, this engine is already one of the least reliable in its class

Nope, none of those are beneficial to me from an off-road use standpoint. The Pro is great for people who just want to buy a reasonably capable off-road truck and not touch anything. For those who want to build a much more capable off-road truck the Pro is not a good place to start.

You don’t really need a trail camera if you know how to off-road and 9 times out of 10 you’re not going true wheeling alone. Definitely unsafe. I’ve seen the leather seats and they aren’t the greatest in the Tacoma and are more prone to cracking and don’t age very well. A buddy of mine has them and regrets the leather. Just get seat covers. And my base trd off-road with technology package has adaptive cruise control too

Do you run a fleet? Where are you looking for data?

I haven’t seen a Tacoma hit 100k miles because I don’t know anyone who owns one! doesn’t mean that there aren’t tens of thousands out there with 100k+ of different engines. A quick glance on CarGurus, I see several 130k mile 2.7 motors on the market. But I guess according to the armchair experts here they’re all rebuilt motors because they’re garbage. I hope y’all say the same thing about the 4G Tacoma when it hits the ground.

All GM vehicles nowadays are garbage. Their quality is horrible. Not that hard to understand haha. And I bought a 2022 Tacoma because I specifically didn’t want a 4 cylinder turbo.

So you have no research, got it. I’m not endorsing them. But maybe not make generalizations without support other than, “they badz omg GM junk”.

I want the PRO because it’s spec’d out the way I want out the door. Only problem is finding dealers with them in stock who won’t sell over Msrp. If they want to charge over asking, then I need extra incentives like tonneau cover, running boards, console safe etc. but I won’t hold my breath. I’ve almost bought a Tacoma twice before but couldn’t get over the cost of them (for the times that is) but I’ve obviously seen their values. Do dealers even exist that would sell a PRO at MSRP?

Yes I bought mine online. Dealer was about 100 miles away in the same state. I put a $500 deposit down over the phone and when it arrived went down drove it then did the deal. No markup. There were a few PIO(mudflaps, edge guards, bed step and lights) that I didn’t really want but it was a manual pro so it is what it is. Other than that MSRP. I believe after tax it was $53k out the door.

In regards to the Pro vs OR trim, if you want the tech and leather I think it makes more sense to go pro. It’s only like $3500 more than the fully loaded OR and you get the fox and several other of the features that I think make it worth it. But it also depends on what you pan on doing. If doing hard core wheeling then yes probably need to upgrade the suspension. If you are overlanding it will do great.

A Pro has more fluff you claim you don't want. But to meet the statement above, you need to go back about a decade or so. Even then, the '13's are more 'technical' than most shadetrees can deal with in depth

While the SR utility package has less user fluff, the underpinnings and control systems are quite complex, just like the big $ versions

Even 3-4 years ago they stopped haggling. We tried this when we looked at a 2018 4Runner. What I was told was that that wasn't really a thing anymore now that every dealership puts their best price online for everyone to see. You may be able to haggle trade-in, but doubtful you'll be able to haggle the vehicle itself. They wouldn't budge on our 4Runner or Tacoma even with different salesmen several months apart.

Most dealers sold Pros over MSRP even before all these so called shortages. You’re getting close , really close to the end of the 3rd gen production so people are snatching them up , in other words you better decide what you want to do fairly quickly because there won’t be a next year

Yes Try Longo Toyota in El Monte Ca. Get on the list for 500. refundable. I did, however after 3mos of waiting. Found one nearby for over MSRP with added features and went the same day appeared on Web. As I walked into show room behind me was a person coming to purchase same vehicle. I did have an appointment though. Has all the updated perks my Super 16 DCLB off road did not. Keeping POr VidA!

I think I misspoke. I meant to say that the newer trucks have things like digital gauge clusters, the huge infotainment systems which control things like lights etc.

So this is where you tell the dealer (in writing) "I'm not paying a dime over sticker' unless you inform me now of any extra or hidden costs beyond Sticker, Destination Charge , Title License and Taxes.
Those who do a little home work and search within 50 miles will easily find a dealer who will see at sticker with very view if any additional fees. Enough Said
