appreciate all the input gentleman. i have a lot to consider... the truck is a 4x4 that is why i was really curious on it.

if i can get a decent deal on a new truck i will go that route. will report back on what i end up getting.

Pass and get a new one. Price isn’t low enough to take the risk

It all depends on the accident. For example I was hit in a round about by a dumb driver. Luckily I saw it coming and sped up and all he hit was my rear tire and wheel. And literally all I had for damage was a scuffed tire and wheel, while his front end was completely ripped apart by the meaty tires I have. The pavement was wet so I spun out causeing almost zero impact force. Truck was inspected and had zero alignment shift. I didn’t even file an insurance claim. However it shows up as an accident. Luckily I took detailed pictures if I ever decide to sell. That was 30,000 miles ago and I have had zero issues. Sorry for the long winded answer but it’s just an example of how something can show up as an accident but it might just be a bump.

Yet, if you tried to trade it in, the dealer would try to rape you on the trade-in price, but still sell at a premium.

FWIW - I got bored while waiting on an oil change and the dealer offered me $24k for my truck when it was "stock" even after it had been wrecked. KBB and NADA were ~$31-32k trade-in at the time.

They had that financing on the Tacoma plus a $500 Rebate just recently, not sure if Toyota does things Nationwide or Regional, they also had a $1000 Rebate around the 4th of July last year.

Exactly! I’ll never trade it in. I was looking at a ford just looking and curious as to the trade value. They came back at $24,000 when it was a year old and they had the same truck on their Toyota lot with roughly the same miles for $32,000! I laughed in the guys face told him he’s a flipping moron and that I’d be sure no one I know ever buys a vehicle from their dealership.

Did the Dealer ever get your truck all fixed up, squealing pulleys and belts?

I wouldn't buy a used tacoma thats only a couple years old. Resale is too high on these trucks. Buying new is generally only a little more. Worth it in my opionion.

Well everyone I got a 2018 trd sport 4wd. My company offers a vehicle incentive if you drive a truck. Traded my 2017 wrx and used some of the positive equity towards the truck. Couldn't be happier... And my works is giving me 200 towards my monthly payment .

Any accident picked up by Carfax or AutoCheck will haunt that truck for the rest of its life and it’s value. Stay away!

Damn, $30k for a Tacoma that’s been in an accident. These sure hold their value
