If you go outside TFS / manufacturer, used rates are pretty close to new right now. And a $6-8k difference is nothing to snuff at.

    I sure wouldn't. And I owned one.

My local dealer sent me an email about 0% at 60 months and no payments for 6 months. Good time to bargain too.

Its 90 days not 6 months, and yes that's a great deal with TFS, but then you can't get the rebate that is $1750, so the new truck that another member posted here that was $31.7k is now $33.2k. Lots of factors to buying used vs. new, sometimes its not always better to go new. Say he buys the one posted for low private party at $24k @ 4% for 60 months thats $442 vs. $33k @ 0% for 60 months which is $550, so for me and I'm sure you $100 more for new would be the better option, but thats a bare bones truck, if he wants all the features of that 16 on a 20, your talking $39k @ $650 a month.

That's fair. The difference to me generally isn't worth buying used these days, but those are good points.

Same, especially a 1-3 year old tacoma, usually only a few thousand from new.

Wait until you buy a House and then see if you can still afford a nice truck. The bigger your downpayment and the less Debt you have the better your credit score and mortgage opportunities will be. Just wait a year or so, nothing about that deal should make you rush into it.

I have a 2016. Got it in Nov 2015. I've had my share of "new model" issues. None of them were "leave me on the side of the road" issues, and all were addressed under warranty. It's a good truck. I paid sticker because... like I said, I bought at the height of demand. I don't think you'll go wrong, and nothing significant has changed on these trucks since then... a sub $30k pricetag sounds pretty good... although I kinda cringe about paying five figures for a used vehicle in general. It's irrational, I know. I figure if I have a payment for a few years, the pennies around the edges don't matter all that much. But that's just me.
