Buying a using Supercharger for 4.0

Good afternoon everyone,

I came a cross a supercharger that seems to be priced fairly near me. My question is, my truck has 180k miles and all maintenance has been done on time (motor, diffs, transfer case: oil changes, transmission drain fill and any other maintenance you can think of even if I didn’t think it was needed), can my truck handle a supercharger with the miles it has? If so, what are some things to look at when buying a used supercharger?

There’s a fella on here with a supercharged 1st Gen with over 700,000 miles. I say do it!
Read up on the SC 2nd gen thread, don’t drag race it on the daily and you should be fine.

They're pretty low boost right? Less than 5-6 lbs?

 

It can handle it just depends how long. You’re putting it on a motor that’s higher mileage

 

wouldnt hesitate to throw it on a well maintained motor with under 200k.

 

Okay, what happens after 200k because hes almost there.....

200k is just an arbitrary number tbh. If the motor is well maintained, has good compression and doesnt use oil I wouldnt care if it had 500k on it.

My taco has 120k and I’m going to supercharger it soon hopefully. I would not think twice about it if you have a good idea of past maintenance. The supercharged thread had some upgrades to do while you’re installing, I would suggest giving it a read (at least page 1), if you haven’t already. Good luck!

 

Mine's got almost 180k on it, well maintained. I'd supercharge it in a heartbeat if I had the option to. No worries if you're well maintained.
