Buying - Looking like 2009 Blue Tacoma
Hey all, new to the forum! Hope to be an 'official' member in the next few days. I've been living in NYC for the past few years so it's been a while since I've had a car. The last two rides were a Wrangler and an Xterra and I was quite active on those forums so you'll see me on here a lot I assume. Looking forward to being apart of the community!

Looking at a few Tacos in the area and getting serious about a 2009 2.7L, manual with 177k miles on it. It's "Speedway Blue" which at first I couldn't tell if that color was god awful or if I kind of loved it. I think it's growing on me...

Sounds like besides the weird radio issues the frame rust is the major issue to look out for. Can y'all tell if this looks to have been treated and shouldn't be an issue? Had the dealer snap these photos. Seeing the truck in person this week. Anything else I should be on the lookout for?

Frame looks great for a NY truck IMO.

I'm not an expert on rust belt trucks but it doesn't jump out as basket case. Does look like it got a coating the way it's flaking off, though? I'd probably check the inside by the catalytic converters for rot just to be sure. If it's solid in those spots it does seem like it could clean up alright.

Welcome to TW! Looks like it’s had the first CRC treatment which was pretty much worthless. Take the truck home and get underneath it with a Phillips screwdriver and start poking around on the frame. If you find a soft spot bring it to the dealers attention, that truck has less than a year left on the frame replacement program.
