I'm looking to buy a gen 3 2017 tacoma trd sport 4x4 auto double cab. I found one I really like, inferno orange only downside is it was used as a company fleet vehicle. It has 61k miles, they are asking 29k for it. That seems quite high for the mileage it has, am I wrong or should it be more like 25-26k

Extremely high in my opinion. I bought a 2019 DCOR for $34K with 34 miles on it. That's only a $5000 difference.

If it was a company fleet vehicle, depending on the use and who used it, it could be a good thing. Most likely it was maintained on schedule.
29k is the asking price, that doesnt mean thats the selling price. They would hope someone would walk in and pay 29k, but you should run it through NADA and KBB to get a better idea of what you should pay.
Inferno is a discontinued color, and a very nice color, but I may be a bit biased on that.
Keep us posted on how it goes.

Go play ball, see what you can get it down to, then walk away and think about it. They want to sell it more than you need to buy it. For 29K, with 61K, I doubt I would pay that. What options does it have? How are the tires? Pick it apart with them

Some things to "pick apart" as @Spare Parts stated,
    1. This is a 2017, it doesnt have the current safety features the 2018 and up have. I will have to think about that.
    2. Inferno was discontinued, was it because its a not so popular color, or were there isses with that color? That is something I will have to look into.
    3. Because it's a 4x4, I wonder if the T-case was properly used and did the required 10 miles per month in 4wd get completed. This concerns me about the longevity of the system.

Now, these are not really anything to worry about, but the salesman doesnt need to know that.

Kind of high, I’d check how low they’d go and also keep looking around for other options in the mean time

I have a 2017, and am happy I don't have the safety features.

I don't know about you, but I would way rather trade another $2000 and step down to an SR5 for a new truck with zero miles.

Used Tacomas sell for stupid prices. At least around here.

Seems high, I got my 2017 Sport DCSB for $32,4xx w/o any miles. Of course, I am very pleased I do not have that safety crap. as well. My wife's 2019 Forester has them and CANNOT stand all that extra crap. You cannot fully turn it off, but we have everything we can turn off, well off.

They seem to be stuck at ....Tacomas have great resale

Of course, when people can buy a new $40K truck for $34K, a used one will have to be worth $4000 less than someone can buy a new one for..And so goes that great resale value. Toyota never used to have $2000 Rebates or discount their trucks $5000 routinely.

That's how they can sell 78,000 trucks in a quarter. That's a lot of future used Tacomas.

Can't have it both ways, Great discount AND top resale value, Pick one.
