I just upgraded from a 2020 6MT sport to the 4th gen. I put 180000km on it with 20 oil changes, 1 set of brakes and 2 sets of tires. I towed a ford flex more than 300km through some rather hilly terrain without trailer brakes, pulled an old skidsteer further with trailer brakes ( the skidsteer alone is 8000 pounds ) I offroaded it a few times and used to love to blast over curbs to make my own exit from the movie theatre/mall. ( yea I can be an A-Hole ) my only criticism of it was the 14L/100km mileage. I found absolutely nothing wrong with the 3rd gen, the 05 nissan 6mt i had basically fell apart under the same treatment i killed it in under 5 years.

Get the most stock, least monkeyed-with Tacoma you can afford.

    A few comments:
    • The OP's criteria were V6 and 6MT, as @shakerhood correctly stated, that narrows the field considerably.
    • As others have mentioned, the Tacoma ain't perfect, but what vehicle is? The fact is, it is a very well designed and built mid-size truck.
    • I have a 2022 TRD Sport 6MT, it only has 26,000 miles on it, but I'm guessing at least six- to seven-thousand of those miles were logged when I was towing something.
    • While this is the first truck I have ever owned, my son has owned many, including three F-150s (two with the venerable 4.9 liter I6 and 5-Speed manual transmissions), so I have a pretty fair amount of time driving trucks over the years; my Tacoma is by far my favorite all-around "Swiss Army Knife" truck compared to anything else I've ever driven. Yeah, it is a jack of all trades, master of none, but I really like it.
    • When it comes time for me to buy another car, I'll most likely keep the Tacoma and just pop for something like a very clean S2000, or some such.
