TRD sport FTW. I can't stand the SR5 seats and hate the OR Chrome and Elocker. You say you don't want to do a lot of offroading, I would recommend erasing this web site from your memory...$$$

I still have not pulled the trigger, but hopefully that is about to change. I have my eye on a blue TRD Sport DCLB 4x4. There is also a tforce edition, but I am not sure what that would get me other than the light bars for the 3k more they are wanting for it. I will definitely post pictures as I can. Thanks for all the help...

I went with the sport. I liked the mirrors, rear bumper and grill all color matched. I didn't like all of the caveats to the E-locker of the Offroad either. An ARB locker is better in my opinion. Had one on a Chevy years ago and loved it.

I thought the ride was better with the Sport. I think the rear leaf pack is a bit stronger on the Sport if you need to haul and tow much. I might be wrong on this one.

One of the biggest advantages of the off road package is A TRAC. It is flat out awesome and I never even use my locker because of it, well, I have never had to use it. 4L and A TRAC on does it all, my friends without it are so jealous. I get places they wish they could get to, and I have stock suspension with 265/75/16's.

As far as the color matched grill surround and rear bumper, just go get them. I purchased a color matched grill surround and a OEM bumper from my local body shop that has contract's with local Toyota dealers. I now have A TRAC and a locker and color matched grill and bumper for very little out of pocket. I think after selling my chrome take offs, I am out $150.

I was going to say... I have the TRD O/R and the skid protection is laughable. I forsee having to rip it all off someday when it starts rattling and falling off on it's own.

I got the O/R because it has the better wheels and tires and the tow package. If I had to do it again I probably would buy an SR5 and have the dealer install the factory tow package and buy my own tires and rims. Although I do like the color matched fender flares which I think is a TRD thing.

I have used the locker once to pull my boat out of a loose sand boat launch, and I only used it to say I used it. Probably be better if I didn't have it, but might help resale I guess.

I dumped my Tundra and went with a white TRD Sport W/ JBL package. I didn't need the 4x4 and I dislike the chrome look. The JBL system sounds great to me and the nav works just fine.

I went into the local stealership and test drove both the Sport and the Off Road, both DoubleCab SB's equipped with the two package and little else as far as options are concerned.

I ended up buying the OR version as I could tell little difference between the two during each of the 10 mile test drives I took, and the OR offered a few more 4WD goodies than the Sport for the same money (on my deal). Again, that's just me - I'm sure others will come up with a completely different conclusion.

In the last six weeks, I've driven this almost exclusively on road, to include a 1300 mile trip from Nashville to Washington DC with my wife and three little kids. Handles and rides just fine on road as the Prerunner TRD Sport I owned several years ago. Does fine on dry roads and in the rain. It's also a nice little oasis in rush hour traffic.

So, bottom line, OP - drive both, get the one that you like the best, and enjoy it.

Doesn't the Offroad still come with the 3 leaf pack ?

It all comes down to if all the extra trd stuff matters to you. And think long and hard about it because I bought a sr5 prerunner access cab thinking I would be happy and I was wrong. After four years of wishing I would have bought something else I went and traded it in on a 2014 dcsb 4x4 sport. I couldn't be happier now.

Buy an SR5 double cab 4x4 and upgrade with aftermarket clazzio leather seat covers, aftermarket wheels, and an upgraded stereo/gps. You'll be into those parts anywhere from $1000 to $1500. Much less money than a trd offroad package (e locker) which it sounds like you'll never use. Also you won't look like everything else going down the road and the truck will bad to the bone. Seriously.

Starting in October of last year all OR's came equipped with 3+1. So, technically there are some early 14's out there with 2+1.
