It's not dealer BS, it's a true cost the dealership has to pay to the SouthEast Toyota distributor. You CAN avoid it in a couple ways:

    - Have the vehicle ordered and built, and then diverted at port before Toyoguard is put on
    - Convince the dealer to take the sale at a lesser profit margin (essentially, eat the cost of the TG)

However, it is a REAL cost to the dealer, not a BS fee. The dealer charging for ToyoGuard in SouthEast states is not trying to jack up his profit margin...he just trying to cover a cost levied on him by an ancient distributor network with a binding contract...assuming the cost is close to what SE Toyota actually charges the dealer, which is around $400-$600.

I didn't say the dealer cost is BS. True, they can't remove the fee, but a dealer telling you that every truck sold from a Southeast Toyota dealer has the Toyoguard and you have to deal with it is BS. They can eat the fee, if they are so inclined. Like you said, there are ways around paying $800 for $100 worth of stuff.
