Ok, first off finding "the" right Tacoma has been, well in short difficult!! I found this one, it has obvious bumper damage but clean carfax. I'm thinking a new beefy bumper and we are good..

Am I right? Or could it be worse? No crashes on carfax reported.. The dealership is very negotiable and it wi allow me funds to do the bumpers. Good deal? Or would most overlook this one? Asking price was $14988, negotiated to $13500.

I wouldn't worry about the bumper, especially if you are going to replace it. Just be sure to talk to the dealr about the frame, there is a frame rust issue on the first generations. If you are happy with the price and the frame checks out, have at it!

Pretty darn good price -- hop on it.

Edit: I'm making a lot of assumptions on that previous response. What I should have said is that if after seeing it in person, if it has no major interior/exterior/engine flaws, then its a good price. Pictures of a vehicle are never too telling.

^106k isnt much at all. 13.5 seems like a fair price, long as proper maintenance has been done. ask the dealer if the LBJ recall has been done as well.

I was just by this dealership today. Wish I would have seen this post earlier I would have went and checked it out in person for you.

Good luck if you decide to buy it. Seems like a good truck. One other thing I would suggest it to maybe have the dealership fix the bumper before you buy it for the price listed. I bought my truck used from GO in centennial, CO and had them do a timing belt with no extra cost to me. Just some food for thought.

Personally I don't think it's a good price at all. Here in Texas you can get a much cleaner truck, even a double cab TRD for about the same price. I wouldn't pay that price at all.

I was thinking it really is a good price and in good shape.

I wish I had someone to check it out for me , you shouldve seen this sooner!

I think I may fly up to Denver and pick it up. Will just slap a few tube bumpers on it. Sooner I get one the better

O.K. I just looked at some close up pics of the link above. NO WAY IN HELL would I pay over $10,500 for that truck. The bumper has a dent, the front bumper is crooked if you look just under the right headlight you'll see someones half ass attempt to put it back together. Stains on the carpets and seats, misc scratches in the paint, scratches on the console and plastics and who knows what else.

    Close Suggested Retail Value

Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices for a used car, and the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the vehicle has been fully reconditioned and has a clean title history, but has not been certified in accordance with any Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program the automaker may offer (for which it may or may not qualify, according to factors such as vehicle age and mileage). This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the vehicle's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

Suggested Retail Value Assumes Excellent Condition More

    Close Suggested Retail Value

This value assumes the vehicle has received the cosmetic and/or mechanical reconditioning needed to qualify it as "Excellent". This is not a transaction value; it is representative of a dealer's asking price and the starting point for negotiation.

    Close Poor

    • Severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition.
    • May have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body.
    • Branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage.
Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a "poor" vehicle because the value of these vehicles varies greatly. A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value.

    Excellent
    (Selected)

"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.
