Buzzing noise during phone calls

Update, got the windshield covered under warranty and replaced yesterday. Glass guy said it may have been lamination issue on the tint and maybe not a chip/crack on the inside but he did admit he didn’t really look at the old one. Haha. Is yours in the lamination area?

 

I get the occasional robot voice during phone calls in my truck, I just hang up and call back

 

Yep. Mine is in the lamination area top passenger side. I’m glad that got swapped out for you. Full time job to make these guys more new than used when you buy them lol.

 

This thread is hilarious… I have a 22 TRD OR AC and also have a defect in the lamination area of the windshield on the right side, tailgate plastic deformed a little in the middle… Noticed it all a few days after it I picked it up. Came here hoping for a solution to the buzzing for phone call recipients too…

 

Wtf lol. What factory. Mine is from… not the Baja one, I can’t remember the name. At least we have comfort in numbers, maybe, call me and we can discuss our tacos problems… oh wait, I can’t hear you over the buzzing

 

I just forget it for

Guanajuato. Now I want to see if it’s isolated to that plant for the buzzing and other issues. Hope some others chirp and see if it’s Baja or Guanajuato.

 

Also curious if yours is from the Guanajuato plant? Be interesting to see a picture of the lamination issue to see if it matches. Here’s what mine looked like.

 

Yep, from Guanajuato as well. I’ll take a pic of the delamination and post it up here shortly…

Was apprehensive about posting it to other forums cause Toyota needs to fix the actual issue causing it but this is a definite workaround. Haven’t done extensive testing with it but so far so good. Report back

Yup very similar, is it a crack or delaminating of that black strip I couldn’t tell on mine.

 

Looks like delamination between the glass and the black strip to me. Hasn’t bothered me enough to get it looked at, but I do tend to avoid my local dealerships…

 

Yeah I’d leave it, mine was a little bigger but they have a glass shop come swap it and they put a tiny chip and scratch in the paint. Not worth it. I did have two rock chips in the windshield already so I guess those are gone now. Trading one problem for another basically.

 

Yep. Mine is top left. I avoid leaving my guy at the dealership, I’m sure it would come back with a different color door or something. I figure it will need replacing soon enough because of Bay Area roads. I have a good glass guy and a new windshield is covered under insurance so I’m just dealing with it. Hell I’ve moved on from the things that bothered me at first… crooked bed, bumper, fender… now it’s all settled into my guy’s personality.

 

Haha, I feel ya I wouldn’t have swapped it if my windshield tint didn’t need to be redone. Now he just has a mini scare (first of many) and fresh sunglasses.

 

I need to take mine in for the 5k checkup and really don’t want to do it. That dealership sucks but also don’t want to pay haha
