It has been my thought that it is transmission related for a while.Doesn't do it if you sit with the trans in P and rev to that rpm range.

    going to be fun!
He did mention that Toyota seems to believe that it is a tolerance issue in the volute or impeller fins which is caused by erratic shifting these transmissions have.....

This tech told me they are seeing more and more of this issue coming in now than ever before...

Not sure how many feel it, I know there have been a couple that have traded it off because it was so
bad and numbing their hands / feet on long drives. Mine is not that bad but bad enough that I always feel it.

Yeah I am trying to see if I can take it on an extended test drive to see if it will bother me or not.

Also been looking into the OVTune as people are having some success with it.

Still have a lot of research to do on it though....

Hey, here's a thought. It's the internal combustion engine that happens to be controlled via that pedal

Same here. Not bad, but bad enough to always feel it (around 2k rpm) in the steering wheel and gas pedal. Mine has actually improved a little bit. The way it felt (numbing) when I originally bought it is why I searched and found this thread.

However, I love this truck and would still buy again. As a matter of fact when my 2016 lease is up at the beginning of 2019 I plan on buying it.

I'll be looking at that as well as the Ranger when it pops up then.

    Hey All!

I just joined Tacoma World mostly to share what I have found with this issue.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their results on this because it has helped me figure out something that has worked for me. I poured over different threads across the internet and here is what I have found:

-Consistent reports of vibration at 2,200 rpm. Same with mine.

-Head engineer at Toyota has stated that the engine switches to Atkinson cycle when it needs the most power. I have found that I get the most power at 2,200 rpm. Which confirms to me that this is a point when it switches to atkinson cycle.

    - Lexus RX 350 vehicle owners have also reported the same issue and they have a 3.5L V6 Atkinson Cycle engine.

    - TW member Whopper found that installing a flow master muffler and dual tail pipes has completely eliminated the vibrations. : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...d-before-buying.397620/page-105#post-13101980

    - Lexus owners have reported eliminating the vibrations when installing a Damper:
    https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx...-rx-350-excessive-noise-and-vibration-18.html

    - As well as TW members here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/possible-solution-for-1800-2300-rpm-buzz.502272/

I have no idea if this is true, but from learning how atkinson cycle works I would imagine that it could very well create a drastic change in back pressure through the exhaust. I am no expert at all but to my very little knowledge that would make sense to me how the change in compression cycle would do that. I've always felt like the vibration felt more like a noise or airflow vibration and not an engine vibration. Kinda like the vibration you feel on a brass instrument.

So with all this I figured maybe it is the exhaust. So I purchased one of those dampers here:
    https://www.oempartsource.com/oem-parts/toyota-rear-bracket-damper-1758131010

I clamped it close to the muffler on the side towards the front of the truck. I figure there because I thought you'd want to stop it at its source and I figured that is where there will be the most back pressure. So I was extremely happy to find my gas pedal vibration has been eliminated!!! I am going to put a couple more on because I am still getting a slight bit of vibration on my left foot now. But other other than that I am soooo happy with it. I feel like I can get a true feel for the trucks acceleration now without anticipation on the vibration and man! the truck drives so nice I love it!

Congrats! Yeah, those dampers do help. I put mine in what sounds like the exact same place after doing some tinkering and that seemed to be the ticket. I also secured a loose cable that had some metal flashing around it that was doing some rattling and that also helped w/ the floorboard vibes I was feeling. Now, I only feel faint vibes in the steering / throttle - the kind I'd expect from most vehicles, not the annoying, foot/hand numbing experience I had for the first several months of ownership!
