This is a great thread glad I just came across it. I start at about 1800 rpms, feel it most in the steering wheel but even feel it in my body through the seat and the passenger's seat vibrates when no one is in it.

Does not make for fun road trips.

I must say, yours is the second M/T where I've heard of this problem. Many were trying to focus this on the A/T and non off-road models; however, your post adds to the twist...

    Curiouser, and Curiouser....

I stand corrected...the 'second' incidence of an M/T with the vibration....Age has clouded my memory!!!

    Post edited to reflect this...thanks!

I just got an MGM Limited Automatic 4x4 the week before Christmas (3-month wait!) and also discovered this after a few hundred miles. I swear it wasn't there at first, but I started to notice it after a multiple trips around town. It's definitely there now in the 2,000-2,500 RPM range. Sometimes I feel it from 1,500 too. I also notice a buzz and slight droning sound that I feel through the whole truck when decelerating down from 45 MPH.

I took a 75 mile road trip for work recently and was on a major interstate. I felt it much, much stronger on the highway. I didn't get numbness because it was only an hour drive, but the buzz in the wheel and pedal was uncomfortable. I could see this being an issue on longer trips. It's not too bad (yet) off-highway, but it is starting to get annoying. I traded my 2006 Tundra for the Tacoma, so I am used to the "truck" ride with the minor clunks and rattles, but I've never felt anything like this. It's pretty odd.

I also found a big crack on the driver's side floor panel that I know I didn't put there. I got the truck from a broker, so I emailed them about the crack and this issue. They sent my note on to the dealer from which they got the truck. I haven't heard back from the dealer yet but I will follow up.

Overall I do love the truck and am happy with the purchase, with the exception of this issue. So I hope Toyota can resolve this. This thread has good info, so I just wanted to follow it.

Thanks for your input, it seems the rumor of testing them before they leave the factory... is plausible, but it also seems that the issue can show up after a few hundred miles anyways. I hope a solution is on its way soon. From another older poll thread, it seemed about 30-35%, while a minority is still a sizable chunk of owners were experiencing the issue, at least on these boards. It seems I will continue waiting before ordering one myself.

I though I saw someone post earlier, possibly Nevadabugle, that it doesn't do it as bad in the cold weather. I also noticed that. Last (2) mornings I was on the interstate running around 72 mph. When it shifts into 5th gear, you hang right in that 2100 range. It was single digits both days, and it didn't seem as bad. Also, I think it seems worse in lower gears.....at lower speeds / steep inclines, greater load. Out on the highway, in the higher gears at higher speeds, it's not as bad. Overall I'm guessing mine isn't nearly as bad as what some of you are reporting, but I can't un-notice it now that I've felt it.

Anyone tried running 5w20 to see if that makes any difference? If it's engine related, I'm wondering if a thicker oil film could dampen the vibration. I might try it for $hits and giggles.

Mine is an offroad and I definitely have it.....although from what you guys describe, it's not nearly to the degree that some are experiencing.

Something tells me that this is not occurring.

I just test drove another Tacoma yesterday with a born date of 12/15 and it has the "buzzing".

You could be right....a friend, who is a fleet manager at a large dealership had been told this, too; however, there seems to be several new posters here and over at toyotanation.com with recently purchased Tacomas who are finding the 'buzzy vibration' so, if they are test driving them, their standards for what is normal are not the same as mine or many other people.....

I'm still thinking the buzzyness is there in most of the production; however, many who buy the truck are ignoring it or consider it normal for a 'macho, off-road tough truck'....

Bad snow here in Flag over the last few days and I've had her in 4WD and the buzzyness, in driving local, is harder to find with the 4WD engaged. Engaging the front drivetrain seems to dampen it somewhat.... Put her back in 2WD on the way home tonight and there was the vibration at 2100-2200RPM....

I'd take all this transmission re-programming and testing for vibration stuff with a grain of salt. What I will say is that I got an odd survey from Toyota Motor Sales today with this subject line: "Tell us how you really feel about your new Toyota Tacoma - we can take it." I took the survey and it basically had multiple steps that asked you to pick checkboxes for what, if any, issues you had with the options or features listed. Not what I liked or disliked: pick the checkboxes/areas that had an issue. You picked a box and had 400 characters to explain the problem and then rate its seriousness. Page after page, with checkboxes that sure read like they knew about some of these issues. Anyone else get one of these surveys?

I never even got the purchase survey...first time that has happened in a dozen Toyota vehicles....I'd love to get a survey so I could RIP this vehicle to shreds for this issue...poorest R&D I could imagine....

In to watch this thread. 4x4 OR DC SB. I have noticed a vibration but it's not severe. Will investigate further tomorrow during my commute.

I posted on this thread a while back about the same issue I am having with my Sport. I got a chance to call the Toyota Customer Care hotline and got referred back to the service department for an appointment. I took it in this week and they looked at it while I waited. It was only 30 minutes before the service adviser came out to tell me they drove another truck on the lot and found the same issue. There was no bulletins they found to address this yet and all they could do for now was call it within spec for the my truck at this time. I asked if I could drive the other truck they compared. The advisor was great and obliged me. It was a very nice Blazing Blue Limited and the only 2016 they had on their lot. All I can say is that I barely (I mean barely) felt it on that Limited. Night and day compared to mine. Don’t get me wrong, it was there. But I wouldn’t have even bothered if mine was as mild as that Limited I drove. The advisor then drove my truck with me and he agreed mine is worse but said every truck could differ. So I got curious about maybe trading out my Sport for the Limited because the intensity on my Sport is way too troublesome for me. I want this truck but I’m kind of at the point where this isn’t worth it and I’d take a loss so I can enjoy it. The advisor told me he really doesn’t recommend that I do that right now and that I should wait for Toyota to find and fix issues with the new generation in the coming months. O.K., but I told him how can you or I or anyone be sure if its months or years or that they even will fix it? He just said to be patient and that Toyota was good about addressing problems for customers. I called Toyota Customer Care after my visit and they said to just keep calling back from time to time so they can check on any service bulletins that may come out for me. Don’t know what else to do but I thought I’d share where I got with it.

Damon, I wouldn't even bother trading it in for the Limited. When I first got mine it was hardly noticeable, wouldn't have realized it was there if it wasn't for these forums. But I've had it for a month now (900 miles) and now its very noticeable and very annoying.
The limited you drove might get worse as the miles stack on.
I hope they find a solution soon, thankfully I'm not stuck in the rpm range for to long of a period during my drives, if I was I would have looked at off loading the truck by now.

Good to know, but I'm still glad I didn't do it given the variance. Would have been a 50/50 chance I ended up with another one that developed the same severity. That it's so inconsistent across trucks makes this all the worse and makes the "within spec/normal" line all the more absurd.
